Welcome!

Hello, Cialo, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, like List of European Table Tennis Champions, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for page creation, and may soon be deleted.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Image of Ma Long

[edit]

It seems the photo of Ma Long (File: Ma long.jpg) is much more like Wang Hao. I removed the image on Ma Long's page.MediocreVisitor (talk) 03:49, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

List removal

[edit]

I don't know which specific removals you are referring to. But if it is of entries that lack both a wp article and a ref -- the rule is that they are to be removed. If you write a wp article or add an appropriate ref, feel free to restore them.--Epeefleche (talk) 19:25, 11 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I looked at the article. You said you did not understand why the entries were removed. If you look at the edit summary, however, the reason is clearly stated. I see that you have reverted, again without the necessary article or refs. Please supply them, or per the indicated guideline the entries will be deleted.--Epeefleche (talk) 19:31, 11 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. Epeefleche (talk) 19:29, 11 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting; Lists

[edit]

Hello. A couple of points.

First, as to formatting, you will note that it is the convention to leave messages on a talk page at the bottom. Rather than at the top. If you don't follow the convention, chances are that your notes may be missed entirely.

Second, as to the "List of table tennis players", as references are necessary my suggestion is that you add references wherever they are appropriate. It is insufficient to simply rely on the heading of the article. This should be clear not only because the heading is not a "reference" but because I would think it self-evident that you exert no control over whether future entries are actually on the list. By having a reference for each entry that lacks a wikipedia article that you have ascertained are mentioned in the reference, you can address this. Otherwise, the list that you indicate is completely covered by the heading will quite possibly receive a new entry in the future, that lacks a wp article, and is not mentioned in the heading, and this will not be clear to a third-party observer.

It is often said that the wp matra is verifiability, not truth. The issue is whether you have a blue link or a ref for each entry. If so, it is properly verifiable. The fact that something is true does not suffice.

WP is replete with erroneous information being added to lists of this sort. Following the rules helps us stem the tide of misinformation

Many thanks for your help improving the list. I imagine that adding the references will take little time and effort for you, and once you have done that the (appropriate) entries on the list will be unassailable. And yes -- it suffices if there is an appropriate ref; there need not be a wp article, per the guideline that I cited and per my edit summary. Best.--Epeefleche (talk) 11:27, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

List of table tennis players

[edit]

Hi, your work in this sector of articles is a big improvement , many thanks. Off2riorob (talk) 13:12, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to you, for your useful suggestions. I'm trying to create at least a stub pages for all the players to be included in the list. And including in each player page an uniform infobox with their main achievments. I have also defined a strict criteria to be included in the list (see the heading of the list) and I'm removing from the list players that do not satisfy such criteria. Let me know if you have additional suggestions. Cialo (talk) 13:22, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Just carry on, I like the new criteria to define the list that is an improvement. Make sure to add just a single citation when you create a stub Kang Hee-Chan as that will defend them from deletion. Off2riorob (talk) 13:25, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Jacques Secrétin, and it appears to be a substantial copy of http://music-ping-show.com.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

Re

[edit]

That was my mistake, sorry. Recently, I was embroiled in a rather silly dispute regarding the use of flags in longevity lists (see WT:MOSFLAG), and I forgot to check why the flags were being used. In the case of these longevity lists, they were being used to indicate places of birth, residence, and death, which is not allowed per WP:FLAGBIO (the residence part is what we had to add in), but that doesn't seem to be what was going on here. I had a bit of an off-night last night; feel free to trout me if you see me do that again. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 20:37, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the information... I'll change it asap, otherwise you can directly correct the mistake. And let meknow if you are interested i collaborating in the Table tennis wikipages
Well, I am working on the table tennis wikipages in the german Wikipedia. Because of my poor english speaking it would be not a good idea to edit to much in "your" articles. But if I find mistakes I will give you a hint. --Tsor (talk) 09:26, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thank you. However, as you have seen, most of the table tennis wikipages contain few text and a lot of statistics. For example, I would need help in completing the page of the: African Table Tennis Federation, North American Table Tennis Union, Oceania Table Tennis Championships, North American Table Tennis Championships, African Table Tennis Championships. I guess this pages are important so that also the winning players of these tournaments could be included in the List of table tennis players. An other important point is the image management. I would need help in finding images of players that could be freely used on wikipedia. --Cialo (talk) 09:40, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Marcos Freitas has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. —EncMstr (talk) 04:15, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Cialo, in german WP world rankings of table tennis players are updated automatically using a special info box. See for example de:Zhang Jike or de:Timo Boll. File permission problem with File:Li xiaoxia 2012.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Li xiaoxia 2012.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Table Tennis WikiProject

[edit]

Hi Cialo, just to let you know that I've started working on some of the outstanding tasks in the Table Tennis WikiProject (looks like things have been very quiet there in recent months), and have also been working on some other improvements to the table tennis pages... so far, I've made a few updates to the ITTF World Tour page, and have created specific pages for the 2016 and 2017 tours, which I plan to keep updated. I've also made significant updates to the existing pages for some of the tour events (China, Japan, Qatar etc.). Next on my list is to add some further tournament pages for tour events (especially Austria and Australia, which are due to be promoted to the new "Platinum" status next year), update some of the continental championship pages, and possibly a separate ITTF world rankings article. Hopefully once some of the other table tennis page editors see that things are being added/updated again, the WikiProject can get back up and running! ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

[edit]

Hello, Cialo. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
