Fair use disputed for Image:Image:Chars tt p16.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Image:Chars tt p16.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:58, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:604438876 l.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:604438876 l.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 07:05, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits to Angelina Jolie

[edit]

You have twice made an edit to Angelina Jolie that violates the Wikipedia Manual of Style, which is why your edits were twice reverted. So that you understand what's going on, I'm providing you with the relevant quotes from the relevant section of the MoS, Manual of Style (biographies) here:

Names

While the article title should generally be the name by which the subject is most commonly known, the subject's full name should be given in the lead paragraph, if known. ...In some cases, subjects have legally changed their names at some point after birth. In these cases the birth name should be given as well:

  • (from Bill Clinton): William Jefferson Clinton (born William Jefferson Blythe III on August 19, 1946)

Pseudonyms, stage names and common names

  • Louis Bert Lindley, Jr. (June 29, 1929 – December 8, 1983), better known by the stage name Slim Pickens…

For people who are best known by a pseudonym, the legal name should usually appear first in the article, followed closely by the pseudonym...

The name "Angelina Jolie" is a legal name, not a pseudonym. Like the above example for Bill Clinton, Jolie legally changed her name after birth, so that's the format to use. The pseudonym format for performers who retained a legal name that was different from the stage name they were better known for does not apply in this case, because "Angelina Jolie" is not a pseudonym, it's her legal name.

The bottom line: the name in the first sentence is supposed to be the subject's full name, and in this case, that's "Angelina Jolie" -- legally, her name is no longer "Angelina Jolie Voight". So please stop editing the article to start with "Angelina Jolie Voight" and to say that she's better known as "Angelina Jolie". Thanks, Melty girl 04:03, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Giorgos Ninios, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://imdb.com/name/nm0632465. Replaceable fair use Image:Maro mavri.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Maro mavri.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. High on a tree 16:43, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please respect the instructions in the tag and do not remove it surrepticiously. Regards, High on a tree 11:38, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image source problem with Image:VERA'S PHOTOS 009.jpg

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:VERA'S PHOTOS 009.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:46, 19 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. High on a tree 16:46, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of List of Erotas episodes

[edit]

A tag has been placed on List of Erotas episodes, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD A1.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Hazel77 14:57, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please discuss the changes on the Talk page. Editors have been at loggerheads over this one for days now, and we're just going to end up in an edit war (or perhaps we're already in it) if people keep changing the page without discussion. I've been trying to take a happy medium so far: using present tense on the status, but at least including the political reality of Rudd being his successor-to-be. I agree that, in a sense, nothing is "official" just yet, but there's value in acknowledging conventions and the political landscape. The method that you appear to be using almost suggests that the GG is going to just randomly sack John Howard and replace him with Kevin Rudd for no reason: having the context of Howard's departure in the article helps people understand the situation. Kelvinc (talk) 12:19, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PS: I'm not going to revert your edits, but having seen past few days, I guarantee you that someone else will. Kelvinc (talk) 12:19, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
PPS: I noticed that you added the PM-d spouse infobox on Thérèse Rein, so I really don't get why the John Howard box shouldn't have some recognition of his soon-to-be departure. Kelvinc (talk) 12:23, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Erotas (Season 1) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 13:59, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Anika Beevor

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Anika Beevor, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Magioladitis (talk) 13:23, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Katerina Didaskou

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Katerina Didaskou requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Thomas.macmillan (talk) 19:30, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Bree113! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 8 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 697 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Courtney Akers - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Vera Kondos - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

The article Vera Kondos has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no assertion of notability, no sources

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Edie britt 2006.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk 04:16, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Courtney Akers for deletion

[edit]

A discussion has begun about whether the article Courtney Akers, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Courtney Akers until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Peter Karlsen (talk) 08:27, 14 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Adamantia Kontogiorgi requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Alexf(talk) 20:51, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
