SEMI-RETIRED
I'll be around, but MUCH less. It's becoming harder and harder to ignore this project's glaring problem as it pertains to reliable sources and what classifies. In todays world where the public trust in our media outlets is lower than it's been (and still dropping,) It is absolutely essential to maintain a neutral point of view for an encyclopedia. Right now, this project is designed (purposefully or not) to favor one side as it pertains to political topics, and it's not ambiguous.

The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar

I don't leave these barnstars very often (and I really ought to do so more often); I guess after 15 years of service, you tend to not be left feeling impressed as often as you did in the past. However, today I make an exception! While many users here do not believe that welcoming new editors and users to the project yields any benefit whatsoever (and, yes... if you're manually going to each new account in the user creation log and blindly sending welcome wishes to every single one of them, the potential benefit gained vs all that time you spent doing so will be extremely diminished). However, I've always taken the time to welcome each new user who creates an account and as part of the Wikipedia education program and their online course. If anything, we know that these users will be editing here; they'll tasked with learning how to navigate the site, locate important policies, and contribute to Wikipedia as part of their course. Now, onto Spf121188... I know when Spf121188 is online, because I'll be patrolling through the user creation log, find a new user with their user page created, see that they're part of the Wikipedia education program, and BAM - Spf121188 has already beaten me to welcoming them to the project. When Spf121188 first asked me about it and expressed interest, I though maybe they'd be interested for a little while If I were lucky... They'd spend time welcoming education users for maybe a week, and then fade away to somewhere else after their interest diminishes, but NO! Spf121188 has been consistently and enthusiastically welcome these new users for well over a month now, and still has the same enthusiasm as when they first asked me about it. To Spf121188, I award you this barnstar for the thankless time you spend toward welcoming these users inside, and despite knowing that it'll likely yield no personal benefit to yourself personally. However, if even just a small effort on our part makes any kind of difference to one of these users, or if it causes even just one to want to stick around and become a contributor here, then who the hell am I to tell someone that what they're doing is worthless - it isn't. Thank you for being a part of this project. You make a difference here, and more than you realize or notice. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 19:47, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
