24 WikiProject

Hello there, I see you are on the 24 WikiProject. It's been quite dead for some time now, and me personally, I intend to revive it. I considered maybe even a 24 Portal, i see the project founder hasn't been on Wikipedia for nearly a year. What are your thoughts on the project? Are you still interested in it? And would you help revive it? Let me know, I would intend to help out a lot, maybe "take over" the founders position, well not take over, but possibly help lead the project? Was just a thought and I wanted your input. My talk page would be the best place. Cheers, Steve Crossin (talk) (anon talk) 19:46, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Note, the above message is what Steve Crossin asked me to say to you. The Helpful One (Review) 18:48, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

  • Okay, well reread the project page, and then have a look at the new category that was made, it sorts articles by their quality. Then, feel free to re-add yourself to the list of helpers. But read the project page first. And, I'm the co-ordinator now, as no-one else stepped up to the job. I've just had a stack of deleted 24 images restored, and I've written fair use rationales for them. You should read our goals too. Post back to me on my talk page once you read it. Cheers, Steve Crossin (talk) (anon talk) 00:56, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Tom, I see you got a message from the 24 proj too. We should design it like the Xbox project. You should add the infobox w/ the 24 logo. You know the stuff you normally do. I'll work on the in the middle stuff. DJS--DJS24 (talk) 01:28, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Sure, I'll put in the infobox but I'll do some more later. I'm busy. BW21. --Blackwatch21 (talk) 01:34, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
  • Just a quick question, I saw you put the founder in the info box. I don't seek to discredit him at all, but he hasn't edited for nearly a year. Perhaps we should put (inactive) next to his name, and maybe add me as the co-ordinator? Someone suggested "refounder" but I rejected it. Hpwever, I have a lot of ideas for the project, and I feel it would be best if I'm in the info box, as I'm kinda the co-ordinator. Is that OK? Steve Crossin (talk) (anon talk) 01:43, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

That's not bad, I thought about changing the "24" to a bold blue, but I haven't had time to change it. --DJS24 (talk) 17:04, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Cool, but there's no link to your talk page. xenocidic (talk) 17:11, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
You can't see it because your on my talkpage. BW21. --BlackWatch21 20:36, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
*facepalm*. Good point. xenocidic (talk) 17:08, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Yea, I noticed... It's unfortunate. And that, and another issue, has discouraged Thingg to the point of him leaving Wikipedia for an indefinite period of time =(. xenocidic (talk) 19:48, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

BW21 - I responded the the admin who deleted it, so don't reply. DJS --DJS24 21:27, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Good find, but I think we tried that argument already BW. Unfortunately we need to come up with something original for our WP. xenocidic (talk) 03:25, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

BW - I see you commented to the admin on your findings. I have also responded to him a couple of minutes ago, so I will handle it from here on. BTW Tom, we should something in to replace it for now, even the word one we had before the most recent logo. Thanks DJS --DJS24 16:58, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry about that little thing yesterday. I've been kind of stressed out in RL and the image being deleted and that admin requesting that the lists of funny vandalisms be deleted kind of put me over the top and I overreacted. I am now back and I'm sorry about that. I will try to make a new logo that looks similar to the old one but is not copyrightable. It won't be quite as good, but it's better than nothing. I'll probably have it up sometime this weekend, but I'm not sure exactly when because I do have some stuff going on in RL. Regards. Thingg 23:03, 10 April 2008 (UTC) P.S. I'm also posting this on DJS24 and xenocidic's talk pages. P.P.S Just wanted to say that the admin on Commons was correct in deleting the image. It did count as a derivative work. I just wasn't sure where the line was drawn and apparently I guessed wrong.

I'd say so, yes. xenocidic (talk) 23:57, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Xboxp assessment

Do you think it's really worthwhile for us to be assessing articles as well...?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Xenocidic (talkcontribs) 19:44, 18 April 2008 (UTC

I dunno, I just think that it's going to be a lot of unnecessary work - and to be honest we don't have that many 'active' members - at least as far as I've seen. I just don't see the benefit in doing it. But if we are going to keep the assessment we should at least modify the assessment guidelines as they are a direct copy of WPVG. xenocidic (talk) 00:33, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
The quality scale is a direct copy, it even still references the VG WikiProj. xenocidic (talk) 02:36, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
The highest article grade that can be assigned by a single reviewer from WikiProject Video games
It's not that I'm trying to shoot down what you're doing, I just don't see how having an article graded by three different organizations (Wikipedia, VGProj, XboxProj) is going to be useful... imo It just bloats ours project box. xenocidic (talk) 02:40, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

again, I just don't see the point of having it assessed by both the VGproj and the Xboxproj. But its your call, I suppose. xenocidic (talk) 02:47, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I've got a potentially free image made, and I'm awaiting a response from an experienced user on whether it is free or not. Sorry about not telling you that. I was going to tell you that quite a while ago, but it somehow slipped my mind... Thingg 01:08, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

update: The guy I asked hasn't responded. I asked at a different place that will hopefully get a faster response. Thingg 01:17, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello Again

Can you please review this RFC and make comment. There is a campaign to harass me from editing, and I believe my edits are being mis-represented. If you have a moment, can you please have a look.

Thank-you. Wageslave (talk) 23:57, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Since I can't seem to make an image that is similar to the old logo without having it qualify as a derivative work, (and your logo is pretty cool), do you care if upload a png version of your logo to remove some of the jpeg artifacting and add transparency? Just wanted to ask because you did spend some time on that logo. Regards. Thingg 14:53, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Wikiproject Xbox

Hi. I was about to start editing the article for Dead Space, and I've got my eye on a few other articles for upcoming Xbox games, so I thought I'd join up with Wikiproject Xbox. But I see there's not been much activity on the talk page etc in the last few months. Is the project still active? The other thing I was wondering, and it looks like you're the man to ask, is there a style guide for video game articles? JMalky (talk) 20:50, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Great. Let me know if there's anything I can help with (I'll keep an eye on the project page as well, of course). JMalky (talk) 08:42, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of List of upcoming Xbox 360 games

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of upcoming Xbox 360 games, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Silver Sonic Shadow (talk) 20:15, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

There's a current change to an article that I feel should have the discussion of the whole Wkiproject. It's the article above, the old version is this and the new version is the current version. I think some discussion on which version would be best would be wise in this situation. Feel free to discuss this on the article talk page. Thanks, SteveBot (owner) 21:20, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Re: Xbox barnstar request

Sounds feasible. I think I should have it done in a few days since I'm kind of busy. Are there any specifications like containing that logo? -- penubag  (talk) 20:14, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for being so inactive. I'll be able to deliver your request within 2 weeks at the most. -- penubag  (talk) 09:55, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:ChainsawDuelonBridge.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:ChainsawDuelonBridge.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 23:16, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Sure

Sure, that would be good, I'm not so sure what we're missing, but go ahead. Steve Crossin (contact) 19:24, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Remake of template?

Hi, just regarding this, the 24 Project doesn't have an importance scale. Would be best not to add it. We also should keep the Portal link in the template. Also note that we have implemented C Class. Cheers, Steve Crossin (contact) 19:40, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

  • The concern I see with having an importance scale is that the importance of an article is all about personal opinion, and one user may think an article is more important than someone else may think. Article quality is generally easy enough to determine. Thats the issue that I see with an importance scale. Steve Crossin (contact) 19:47, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Wikiproject Pinball Template

Hi there, BW21. I noticed your edit of the Wikiproject Pinball template, but I'd never seen that code before. Could you summarize briefly what it does? Thanks for your help, Fractalchez (talk) 20:37, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

RE:Xbox barnstar

I am very very sorry for having so much work in real life. Every spare minute I get I'm working on another graphics request for another user who asked sooner than you. I'm not sure if I can report a time frame for you but I'll try to get it in asap. 2 weeks from now, I'm going out of the country for 2 weeks where I will have no access to graphics software. I'd love to get it to you before I leave but don't count on it. You may want to ask the Wikipedia:Graphics lab in the meantime. Thanks, and sorry! -- penubag  (talk) 23:27, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Please check your Graphic Lab request for responses. Thank you — Navy  Blue  formerly iDosh 17:55, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Image:WPSuperheroes.svg

I've opened a discussion at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions regarding Image:WPSuperheroes.svg and whether it breaches copyright or trademark. Just a heads up. Best, Hiding T 18:30, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Superheroes

- I have a question: - - What do you feel is the goal of this project? - - And further, how would you define "superhero"? - jc37 11:29, 1 August 2008 (UTC) -

The goal of WikiProject Superheroes is to expand, cleanup and check up on every superhero related article. WikiProject Comics should take care of comic book related articles like this. WikiProject Superheroes will take care of articles like this. You can find what a superhero is here. BW21.--BlackWatch21 15:49, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for clarifying.
Something you should be aware of though:
  • "WikiProject Comics should take care of comic book related articles like this."
I presume that when you mean "take care of", you mean provide the forum, resource, and opportunties for collaboration among editors, to help in editing articles.
That said, the comics project is not limited to just publications, but any comics-related article. This includes content (such as characters, objects, locations, and concepts), publications (such as comics books and comic strips), creators (such as writers, artists, and editors), and even publishers.
As such, how do you see that the WikiProject you have created is not entirely included by WikiProject Comics?
And as a followup question, we've discussed starting a comics workgroup concerning content (with a particular focus on characters). Would you be interested in merging your WikiProject to that? - jc37 16:03, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Wikiproject Comics does work on all articles related, to comics such as superheroes that is true. But superheroes deserves a Wikiproject to work the articles. For example WikiProject Video Games works on all video game articles: Xbox, PlayStation, Sega, etc. But their are wikiprojects that just work on Xbox. Thanks. BW21.--BlackWatch21 16:11, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Deserve? "works on?" I'm starting to think that perhaps you don't understand what WikiProjects are for.
Would you please clarify?  ::::In addition, pointing to the super hero article didn't actually answer the question I asked above. I was asking how would you define "superhero" in terms of project collaboration. - jc37 16:15, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
First of all, I do know what a WikiProject is made for because I've crated one, do you? The point of a WikiProject is a group of editors improving certain articles. The point of WikiProject Superheroes is to improve all superhero articles. BW21.--BlackWatch21 16:21, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
"The point of a WikiProject is a group of editors improving certain articles" - not exactly, no. "A group of editors" doesn't need a WikiProject to improve articles. A WikiProject isn't a club. The point of a WikiProject is to facilitate collaboration among editors, usually concerning a particular theme or topic.
Anyway, based on your comments above, I won't trouble you here with a further request for clarification.
I'll likely have a further notice for you shortly. - jc37 16:33, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

I deleted the Wikiproject Superheroes, but i suggust and would like be involved in a task force dealing only with superheroes. Thanks.--BlackWatch21 03:18, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

The best advice I can give as far as the workgroup would be what is suggested to everyone: Ask the question/start the discussion at WT:CMC. If there is enough interest in a full-fledged workgroup, it'll happen faster than you might realise. And even if not, you have other options. Just because there isn't some "official" page, doesn't mean that you and others can't collaborate on a specific type of topic or theme. And that includes superheroes. I hope this helps. - jc37 03:36, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Superheroes (continued)

Hey, this is Blackwatch21. I see that you noticed the edit I made on the Wikiproject Superheroes talk page. I apologize for this, me and DJS24 are brothers and live in the same house. I was on his laptop that uses DJS24 and lost my train of thought. You can see the differences between the two of us, for example he uses edit summaries I do not. You are an admin, if you want to block me for what time period or shut down the project its fine with. Thanks. BW21.--BlackWatch21 03:02, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

I dont know if you noticed we have had the related users box since the day I joined and have not voted together until today and avoid concensus. Again thanks.--BlackWatch21 03:04, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for the clarification, and being open about this.
At first glance, I don't currently see a need to block you. But be aware that others may find differently.
While I note that you removed the previous discussion you and I had, I would ask that, at least for the duration of the current discussion, for transparency reasons, please do not remove this from your talk page.
Also, note that others may (or may not) be commenting here as well.
One further thing I might suggest is to please go back where you've signed his name to your words, and fix that. - jc37 03:11, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for the help. Hope to see you in the near future. BW21.--BlackWatch21 03:37, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Hey Blackwatch. I have a tool that allows me to use native rollback to automatically rollback most of the project banners you addedd for this project. Would you have a problem with me doing that?
