Was she a DDE in later life?
[edit]I have some non-authoritative information that USS Walker carried the DDE designation in the 1960s. In fact, the article calls her an "escort destroyer" somewhere near the bottom. I was on the Conway (DDE-507) in 1959. It makes sense that the 517 would have also been a DDE at that time, but I don't have any real information on it, and I don't have the time to check right now. - New information: The ship's reunion web site refers to her as DD/DDE-517. Once again, no time for me to dig further. Web site is HERE. Lou Sander (talk) 20:54, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
