Article creation
[edit]This article was created as a distinction between "health profession" and "health professional". This article will deal more with the latter. It is a sub article of Health care. It should probably deal with all types of health care providers including institutions such as hospitals and laboratories, practitioners and professionals, and health care systems managed by governments and other organizations. It still needs a lot of work, especially in the "Practioners and professionals" section. Chupper 19:02, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
Practitioners
[edit]The article has been reviewed and revised to clarify the use of certain terms such as "health professional" versus "health practitioner" according to internationally standardized nomenclature endorsed by the World Health Organization. The number of examples of institutional types, practitioner groupings and financing mechanisms for health services provision have been expanded to be more comprehensive and internationally relevant.
I have made changes and added information about not only healthcare practitioners but in general healthcare professionals. I recommend adding more was health professionals are affected by mental health in the field.User: Alissa Lebrun 1:30, 27 September, 20201 (UTC)
I have also edited some text which overlaps too heavily with other articles (e.g. health care provider regulations, geriatric care management), making sure to include the appropriate cross-references.Guptan99 (talk) 14:42, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
I am a caregiver to my mother, and the reason why,is that i have seen what goes on in Health Care.Because i have worked in that field for 20yrs are more,so i know. The thing that get's me is Health Care gets all this money, and the people donot get the care of how many year they work for.And reason for saying is,what if you worked all your life and had to in up in a Nursing Home or Assistant Living or a Group Home, and was not getting the care you needed. If walls could talk they would have a lot to say.Me as a caregiver i want to make a change some how some way,by helping as many people as i can.I would like to start my own movement, its a Transport Service that take's them to where they need to go.And not have to come out of there income, with everything else.I would do fund raising, now it would have to be important people there that is the only way its going to come to life.People will listen, sad to say but true.I will do this for them, cause i am getting older as well and if we don't fix something now, then why wait until getting old.Getting old dont have to be all bad,it can be good to.Thank You Sherry JOYCE for careing.... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.183.64.29 (talk) 21:13, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
merged with medical facility
[edit]Text and/or other creative content from medical facility was copied or moved into Health care provider. The former page's history now serves to provide attribution for that content in the latter page, and it must not be deleted as long as the latter page exists. |
Split discussion
[edit]I've been looking at this article and am a little bit confused by the dual use of the term to mean provider (as in person) and facility. While I realize that both terms are used interchangably, it may make sense to disambig to facility all of the facilities, then keep the providers (e.g. people) here. We could use Health care facility for the facilities. Your thoughts welcome. See here for all of the redirects, which seem to divide equally between organizations/places, and people: [1] --KarlB (talk) 02:08, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
I agree with the recommendation to split this but appreciate the global perspective may differ from mine. In Healthcare data models, Provider is specific to an individual who provides healthcare services. When we talk about the Hospitals and Clinics they are Healthcare Facilities. Deboots (talk) 23:30, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. I agree; it would be cleaner I think to have all the people as healthcare providers. Then, description of hospitals/clinics/etc would go into healthcare facilities.--KarlB (talk) 01:10, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
- Will someone be making the split then? Op47 (talk) 22:01, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- I guess not, so I have done it. Op47 (talk) 19:22, 15 September 2012 (UTC)
Would someone be able to remove the tuberculosis section. I do not see how it is relevant to health professionals. This article is broad and talks about the different kinds and challenges they face, however I do not see how TB testing makes any sense in this article
Aged Care
[edit]The reference to [medical nursing homes] is misleading, the united nation reference http://unstats.un.org/unsd/cr/registry/regcs.asp?Cl=17&Lg=1&Co=8519 acutally states "homes for the aged' as differentiated from places which are medically supervised. Increasingly, I think untrained carers are used in aged care and "nursing home" is not entirely correct either. Residential facility would be a more constructive topic title Tradimus (talk) 05:16, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
Under abuse by patients I added five to six sentences that talked about pharmacy students and how low levels of staffing can lead to poor patient care.
