Information to update
[edit]Hello,
I have been asked to use the Talk Page for any change on the page, so here is the list of what I suggest.
- Infobox
Update the number of employees: 74,000 in 2019
- Introduction
Delete the following sentence: Essilor is quoted on the Euronext Paris Stock Exchange. It is a component of the Euro Stoxx 50 share index.
- Activity and distribution
Delete the following sentence (not up to date anymore): "27% of its sales are based in Europe, 46% in North America, 6% in Latin America with the remaining 16% based out of Asia, Pacific, Middle East and Africa". Update these percentages: 11% (11.2%) is driven by sunglasses and readers and 3% (2.8%) from other activities, such as equipment sales.
- Innovation
Update the number of R&D facilities (5) and Innovation and Technologies Centers (4). Add China to the list of Innovation and Technologies Centers in Asia: “(China and Singapore)”. After this paragraph, add this following sentence “In 2010, Essilor created Shopper Labs, renamed to Essilor Companion™ Lab in 2020, experimental stores for opticians to support them in their professional practices.”
- Institut de la Vision
"Essilor participate in the Institut de la Vision de Paris, a research center on ocular pathologies inaugurated in December 2008." => "participated"
- Our children vision
Delete this section because this partnership doesn’t exist anymore.
- Employee shareholding
Update data: 68% by the end of 2018 => 67% by the end of 2019. 10,000 => 11,000 Essilor employees Replace this part of the sentence: “owns three of the fifteen seats at the board of directors” by “which is represented by an international Board of Directors.”
- Board of directors
Delete this paragraph (not necessary on Wikipedia)
- Other key figures
Update the following data:
Employees: 74,000
Labs: 449
Plants: 33
Patents: 9,860
And that's all.
Many thanks for your feedback!

Spam-edits in 2009 still dominate Essilor and Varilux, also in the history of the redirect at Crizal
[edit]Based on the first edit of Varilux on August 10, 2009 (here), a very large August 10, 2009 addition to Essilor (here), the first edit of the now-redirect Crizal (here) on the same day, and the contribution history of that editor (here), as well as the contribution history of this non-logged-in editor from July 13-15, 2009 (here) whose IP address currently (11 years later) is listed as a likely-static IP address belonging to Essilor (whatismyipaddress.com lookup), along with the two edits of July 9 and 14 by an editor with a very similar username (here), I think it's safe to say that the two remaining non-redirect articles are heavily contaminated by WP:COI-editing, probably by a single editor employed by Essilor. I will be posting this on both Talk:Essilor and Talk:Varilux and may link to these discussions from relevant WikiProject discussion pages. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 21:05, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
Proposed merge of Vision Direct into Essilor
[edit]Vision Direct is now purchased by that firm., making it just one of their brands. DGG ( talk ) 05:32, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
- I think a redirect makes more sense at this rate since Vision Direct's page has barely any additional information. I'll do the redirect in a week if there are no objections. -Karthanitesh (talk) 03:44, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- Merger complete. Klbrain (talk) 11:41, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
