Appearance
Johann Baptist Jenger (March 23, 1793[1] in Kirchhofen near Freiburg – March 30, 1856 in Vienna) was an Austrian composer, musician, secretary of the Steiermärkischen Musikvereins (Styrian Musical Society) and member of the board of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde (Society of Music Lovers) in Vienna.

[edit]- ^ According to ÖBL (see link) almost the entire Schubert and Beethoven literature says that Jenger should already have been born in 1792 (or 1797), but the prayer book of Jenger's father, Anton (1760-1840) clearly says the year is 1793. Karl Becker already refers to this misconception, see Refs, p. 16. Finally, there is also the death entry to Jenger in Wiener Zeitung in 1793 because his age as "63" is specified.
