Untitled Paul McCartney film is an upcoming British biographical musical drama film directed by Sam Mendes and written by Krysty Wilson-Cairns, based on The Beatles as part of the Beatles Quadrilogy.
Production
[edit]Sam Mendes conceived of the idea, and discussed the concept with studio executives in late 2023. It is the first time The Beatles have granted full life story and musical rights for official scripted biographical films.[1] The film will be directed by Mendes, who will produce alongside his Neal Street Productions partner Pippa Harris and Julie Pastor. Jeff Jones will executive produce for Apple Corps.[2] In June 2024, Paul Mescal was in contention to play McCartney.[3] Krysty Wilson-Cairns was revealed to have written the screenplay.[4]
Filming
[edit]Principal photography is scheduled to begin in mid-2025.[5] In June 2024, it was reported that cinematographer Roger Deakins was offered the opportunity to collaborate with Mendes on the project.[6]
Release
[edit]The film is expected to be released by Sony Pictures Releasing in 2027.[7]
