Darjeeling Hills University (abbreviated as DHU) is a public state university in Darjeeling district, West Bengal, India. The university was established in 2021 by The Greenfield University Act, 2018 of the Government of West Bengal.[2][3] This act was later amended by The Greenfield University (Amendment) Act, 2019 which replaced the name 'Greenfield University' with 'Darjeeling Hills University'. The university became active with the appointment of the first Vice-Chancellor (VC), Subiresh Bhattacharya, in November 2021.[4][5][6]

Until March 2024, the administrative officers of the University of North Bengal were assigned to administer both universities. At present, faculty members from Darjeeling Government College have been assigned to handle the administrative affairs of the university.
