From Latin expōnō (I expose), from ex- (out) + pōnō (I place, put).[1] With the verb-forming suffix -ál.

  1. (intransitive, photography) to take a photograph, to shoot with a camera
  2. (transitive) to stick one's neck out, to risk one's reputation for someone (followed by the reflexive pronoun maga and -ért) (to sacrifice one's own reputation for someone else's cause or interests)
    Exponálta magát a barátjáért.He risked his reputation for his friend.
