- Research I'd Like To See:
I'd really like to know what ties the latin root for the number four to a place people sleep or meet? I can figure out the "relations" tie to "place of residence" as in "She is my quarter" because the phrase is just pointing out that the person is providing shelter for the another. But why oh why does 4 = home?

editSeems to be taken from a different book, see here: https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Vision_of_Sudden_Death and therein it may mean "to evade an obstacle" as in oncoming wagon, or "to evade a rut". It's really hard to say.
Order of meanings
editCan we re-order the meanings of quarter as a noun, in order of frequency of usage, instead of in order of historical precedence, which results in archaic uses being listed before common uses? You have to wade through a whole list of obsolete meanings before you get to the most common one, the 25 cent piece. 98.115.160.165 05:11, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
