    • School of Salamanca just translated from Spanish, mostly one author's work in the Spanish, no references, some possible Whig History (as discussed on Talk:School of Salamanca, review heartily welcomed. -- Jmabel | Talk 07:43, Oct 15, 2004 (UTC)
    • Could someone have a look at my question at Talk:Probabilism? -- Jmabel | Talk 07:43, Oct 15, 2004 (UTC)
    • There is a long, slow edit war occurring at modus tollens. Perhaps comment by other users might help.
    • Iamblichus (philosopher) - wrestling with the 1911 text, would appreciate comment--DanielCD 15:19, 7 Jul 2004 (UTC)
    • Philosophy of space and time
    • Scientific method - updated
    • Induction - included critique of Bayesian inference
    • Metaphysical subjectivism
      • My intuition tells me that this needs peer review! A Google search for the term yields many copies of this article, so it's important that it's correct.
      • On the talk page, someone mentioned that 'metaphysical subjectivism' isn't a widely-used term. Should the article title be renamed to Subjectivism (philosophy)?
        • I would recommend just changing Subjectivism from a disambig into an article on subjectivism in philosophy, including the text from Ethical subjectivism and from Subject (philosophy), and then delete the two articles. This article, though, seems to point at something beyond just the normal meaning of subjectivism, meaning maybe it should remain its own article. It definitely needs some sourcing and rewriting, regardless of what we do with it. -Seth Mahoney 22:14, Sep 17, 2004 (UTC)
          • Done. Merged into Subjectivism (philosophy). I think the merge is much better, since the topics are intimately related, and people are often confuse the different meanings of 'subjectivism', including ourselves... Wikiwikifast 03:05, 19 Sep 2004 (UTC)
    • Objectivity - needs cleanup because of redundancies; perhaps merge with metaphysical objectivism? --Wikiwikifast 03:05, 19 Sep 2004 (UTC)

    • Transplant trade (currently on Organ Donation)
      • Nothing on this bioethical problem prior to today, to do with the disparity of class. Read what I have written on it so far.

        • Expanded. Please review and edit. There is some redundancy, b/c bioethics at least ought to cover "ethical issues in organ donation" and organ donation ought to be more historical and factual than philosophical. Amicuspublilius 03:23, 22 Jul 2004 (UTC)
    • José Ortega y Gasset
      • I've translated this from the Spanish-language Wikipedia. It could use some fleshing out (including about Ortega y Gasset's politics) and the "Philosophy" section at the bottom is very weak, but it's all there was in the original. -- Jmabel 19:40, 20 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]
    • Giles of Rome
      • Currently a poorly written stub, and its on the Medieval philosophers box, meaning its a poorly written stub that's drawing attention! Ack! -Seth Mahoney 18:13, Aug 2, 2004 (UTC)

  • Pick an exemplary article. All WikiProjects are supposed to pick an exemplary article in their field that represents the highest standard to which we aspire, and I think it would be good for us to do so as well. Vote and discuss on the linked page. Adam Conover 20:43, Apr 12, 2004 (UTC)

Mid-range tasks

edit
  • Expand Critique of Pure Reason.
    • There's precious little information right now on the Critique of Pure Reason. This is obviously one of the foundational works of philosophy, so we need a page on it. It's a big job, though, so as much help as possible would be appreciated.
    • Volunteers: Michael Voytinsky, Adam Conover
  • Expand stub Philosophy of psychology
    • I copyedited this article a bit, but it still needs some meat to this article.
    • Task added: April 10, 2004

  • Overhaul & Copyedit Cognitive science
    • POV, unprofessional conjectures

Larry's Text part 1: cleanup

edit

Larry's Text is a mess. None of the articles that he wrote are encyclopedaic -- rather, they're all lectures that are aimed at beginning undergraduates. They are thus conversational in tone, and often gloss over serious issues in philosophy. What's worse, they frequently take up space that should be devoted to serious examination of philosophical topics.

One tactic for how to deal with Larry's Text is to collect the original versions of the pieces (available through the page history of the pages linked to on Larry's Text) and move them to the User_talk namespace. This allows us to start fresh without losing good material.

A better tactic, I think, is to gather the texts and put them in Wikisource. See Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Philosophy#Larry's_text_revisited

Larry's Text part 2: wikisourcify

edit

Make the original versions of Larry's text available from Wikisource, so they can be referred to and acknowledged properly.

Article Series

edit

We are working on a number of article series. These are series of philosophical articles that are bound by a common theme or philosophical subject, and will be linked by navigational boxes similar to those on Wikipedia:MediaWiki custom elements. Connecting articles in this way will create more cohesiveness throughout the philosophy articles, and will allow us to locate which articles deserve the most attention, and work on them one by one.

For more information, or to help out, see /Article Series.

Poor Yorick's NB: The Article Series is mostly outdated now, in favour for Wikipedia's Categories.
