Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/New Jersey

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to New Jersey. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|New Jersey|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to New Jersey. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to US.

- Delete per nomination. You forget to mention that this is a common birth name in Portugese-speaking countries that namesakes may be found, unless you've searched in combination with the person's name and clubs. ⋆。˚꒰ঌ Clara A. Djalim ໒꒱˚。⋆ 13:37, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
- Absolutely. That is probably the only way to do a proper WP:BEFORE. JTtheOG (talk) 19:26, 19 December 2024 (UTC)

A local celebrity only, with an interview and an obituary in The Boston Globe. A redirect to her restaurant, Upstairs On the Square, is an option. Clarityfiend (talk) 21:51, 17 December 2024 (UTC)

- Delete or redirect All the unsourced content in nonencyclopedic voice was written by her sister and the rest doesn't establish notability for a local small-businessperson. Reywas92Talk 14:50, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- Speedy Delete. As per above. MaskedSinger (talk) 17:00, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
- Merge (partial) to Upstairs On the Square, with reliable refs from bio.Djflem (talk) 17:14, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
- Weak keep although it needs to be reverted to the "pre-sister" version. (Sister clearly wasn't a Wikipedian.) I say this because with a merge to the restaurant it would be hard to capture some of the content. There are a fair number of local sources that could be drawn on. I emphasize local though. A local article about taking on a position after the closing of the restaurant, here can fill in a few facts about her career. Her death was covered in at least 6 local publications, and she was considered something of a feminist icon; a hint of this in G-Books because I can't see most of it. This has an emphasis on her involvement with local classical music activities. The Cambridge Day obituary provides good information. The City of Cambridge issued a resolution of condolence (short but heartfelt). I also found information that isn't included in the Upstairs On the Square article, like that they hosted an intimate after-concert dinner for U2 (and I suppose high-level fans). I'll throw a few links into the talk page of that article. Lamona (talk) 02:44, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
- Keep most of the coverage is local but the subject is considered notable in Boston. There are references in Proquest and newspapers.com with additional coverage. I’ll add some of them this week. Nnev66 (talk) 23:34, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- Update: I added references to the article. Note most are WP:SIGCOV in reliable sources, with the exception of the Baskin interview and All Things Considered piece. While most are in Boston/Cambridge sources, this is not surprisingly since her notability originates from her restaurant and community service in Cambridge. One source is in the trade journal Nation's Restaurant News. Nnev66 (talk) 02:53, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
