Suspected sockpuppets

edit

This started when I noticed that User:83.137.1.219, who had vandalized Robots exclusion standard, had edited User:Naia.itu/sandbox/Wikipedia Contributions -- and so had a bunch of other users, many of whom had in turn edited other user's sandboxes. Especially notable are the multiple sandboxes User:JosebaAbaitua edited starting in April 2015. Then I noticed a similar pattern by the same users in their global contributions, especially on the eu Wikipedia. Eventually I had what looks like a whole drawer full of socks. Note that 7 of them were created in March of 2015 and 8 of them were created in March of 2016 -- often on the same day. I didn't bother checking out the many sandboxes that User:130.206.138.73 had edited, but there are a bunch more names there. -- Guy Macon (talk) 13:17, 31 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Appologies

All the above users are students in my course on Information Management, where I teach how to contribute to Wikipedia. We use the sandboxes to practice mainly with reference templates (eg. User:Andrea Vicente/sandbox/References). At our university we run several wikis, although with very little maintenance, so I didn't get anybody installing the reference plugin. --JosebaAbaitua (talk) 18:57, 7 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
