About Viber
editI see you have considered Viber as an not significant subject . I do not agree because:
- Viber is an equivalent software as Skype. Since there is an article about skype I think there should be a also an article about Viber.
- If you search the name Viber with Google(in Italian version ) there are 3.740.000 match (803.000 in English)
I agree anyway with you on my article was poor and needs improvements.
Thank you very much (Virgilio Puglia 17:48, 16 February 2011 (UTC)) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pugliavi (talk • contribs)
- Hey, like I (hope) I said, if you need any help with your article you can always come to me, or one of our other editors, and we'll be more than happy to help you. It's a good idea to create the article in your userspace whilst you're working on it so it doesn't get deleted as falling afoul of our criteria for speedy deletion, as your article did before. Remember, if you add reliable sources to your article, this will help to stop it being deleted and with notability. For more information, why not look at our essay on your first article. Hope that has helped! PanydThe muffin is not subtle 17:57, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
Rewriting Deleted Article
editHi, with regards to the following, 12:19, 11 January 2011 Panyd (talk | contribs) deleted "General Assembly of Presbyterian Church in Korea" (G12: Unambiguous copyright infringement of http://www.pck.or.kr/Eng/History/MajorH.asp) I would like to rewrite the article as I had apparently misunderstood the copyright rules. I was wondering if I can start straight away or if I needed to get your approval or what. Please forgive me, this was the first article that I had created and it wasn't as easy as I hoped it would be. Thank You Corean79 (talk) 09:54, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
Help needed
editHi, as you were so nice to me the last time around, I hope that you could help me again; I edited the Ben Croshaw article, more presicely the writing section of it. I added information about Croshaws second published work, a short story. I'am now struggeling with the decision to add the name of the story as it might be interpreted as offensive ("EXHAUSTION FROM HAVING SEX WITH A MINOR"). Secondly, the anthology of which his story is a part is a vanity press release; yet it met considerable commercial success (Best Books of 2010). I would be glad if you could comment on these two issues. Thanks in advance and best of luck for your RfA! Bryan de Bois Gilbert (talk) 23:54, 26 November 2010 (UTC)
- Hey, sorry it's taken me so long to reply. Your message got lost in a host of congrats spam and I've only managed to pick it out today. I think it's fine to use the title of the book so long as you do so in a very matter-of-fact way. Making it into a big deal just draws attention to the offensiveness of the title, but I see that you've come across a good compromise now so no reason to change it. If someone asks you to be more specific though I don't see a problem with it.
- Having said that, I've noticed that you've only used primary sources when mentioning the book. That is definitely not a good idea. I can't find any sources with reference to Croshaw's story that aren't extremely trivial but maybe you can find something? Otherwise I think it's going to have to be removed. Hope that helps and if you need anything else please let me know. PanydThe muffin is not subtle 22:40, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

UK Community Notice - IRC meeting
editDear Wikipedian,
This is the first of what will hopefully be a regular notice to help bring together the UK community so that you can be involved in some amazing things. To kick things off, there will be a UK community IRC meeting at 1800 UTC, December 7, 2010 to discuss the future growth and developement of Wikimedia UK. Without huge community support and involvement, the chapter cannot be successful and to get the most out of it, get involved.
For information on the community IRC meeting please go here
More to come about:

- 1st Annual UK Wiki-conference
- Trustee interest meeting - an event for those community members with even just a fleeting interest in becoming trustees of Wikimedia UK.

OTRS clarification request
editRe: OTRS ticket 2010111910010557, regarding the article Jackfoot. I wanted to ask if you could provide some clarification as to what the keep rationale was, because as written there's nothing even remotely verifiable about it in reliable sources — it appears to be sitting somewhere along the line between unencyclopedic advertising for a non-notable topic and outright hoaxery. So I need to ask whether there's a real reason why we shouldn't delete it, because as written I can't see a single thing about it that meets even one of our inclusion rules. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 20:52, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
- It is my understanding that when a user requests for an uncontested PROD to be reinstated that we should do it per WP:PROD. The user in question promised to add more RS to the article. Having said that, I can't think of a single reason to keep the article in its current form, so please feel free to AfD the thing. PanydThe muffin is not subtle 21:04, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
Categories to delete
editI've been cleaning up the articles with minor POV issues and have emptied some categories: Category:Articles_with_minor_POV_problems_from_July_2008, Category:Articles_with_minor_POV_problems_from_June_2008, Category:Articles_with_minor_POV_problems_from_May_2008, and Category:Articles_with_minor_POV_problems_from_April_2008. Maybe you shouldn't have offered me your services as a janitor after your successful RfA ;) . Reaper Eternal (talk) 02:39, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- When these dated maintenance categories are emptied, they self-nominate themselves G6 and place themselves in CAT:SD. SD is a little backlogged lately, but they'll normally go within a couple hours, as they're among the easiest speedies to process. All gone now. Courcelles 02:43, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

If you have time and inclination, I'd be most grateful if you'd have a look at the article on John Culshaw, one of the most important classical record producers of the last century. new contributor's help pack
editHi Panyd. Just reading the Contribution Team's update, and noticed that we are perhaps including a video tutorial as part of the new contributor's help pack. I am a filmmaker with much video experience and was wondering if I could help out with this component, or offer any help video-wise. Hope you're having a good day, The Interior(Talk) 23:34, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
- Oh wow, that would be amazing if you could help! We're basically just looking to do some screen-shot video's with commentary on how to use the edit button, how to translate our mark-up and how to do really simple things like add references to BLPs and WP:UNDUE and WP:N (which I realise aren't that simple but they are the basics!). They would be put on the official YouTube channel and you would be properly accredited. Is that something you'd be interested in? Alternatively, if you just wanted to make the videos and have someone else do the commentary that would be fine or even just giving us some tips on which program would be best for the screen-recording. Any help is really appreciated! PanydThe muffin is not subtle 00:31, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- It would be a combination of two of my favorite things, WP and making movies! So, step one would be deciding on how many videos we need, and what they should cover. Step two would a basic script for each video (shots, voice-over, titles). Three would be deciding whether to use animated stills of screen-captures, or actually shooting live into a monitor (I have shot my monitor before, and it looks great (progressive scan)). I could create a sub-page in my userspace to start developing ideas, or would it be better to use the Project space somehow? The Interior(Talk) 00:51, 11 December 2010 (UTC)
- It would definitely be better to use the project space so that everyone can get involved more easily. How about I set up the skeleton of the thing over the next 24 hours and then let you know when it's up? Sound like a plan? PanydThe muffin is not subtle 00:59, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

- Hey! I know it's been a little over 24 hours but I wanted you to know that a list of the types of things we're looking for is up! After this comes scripts so expect those in the next few days (or feel free to add some yourself!). Thanks again for your offer of help. Speedy deletion nomination of Exscientologykids.com
editYou may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
A tag has been placed on Exscientologykids.com requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
at the top of the article, immediately below the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate), and providing your reasons for contesting on the article's talk page, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
You may want to read the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies. Corvus cornixtalk 01:31, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
- If somebody else wants to remove the db tag, then I'll take it to afd. Corvus cornixtalk 01:47, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

Nomination of Exscientologykids.com for deletion
editThe article Exscientologykids.com is being discussed concerning whether it is suitable for inclusion as an article according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Exscientologykids.com until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Corvus cornixtalk 02:04, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

File copyright problem with File:John E Erickson.jpg
editThank you for uploading File:John E Erickson.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 21:06, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
Hi, I noticed that you had done the speedy deletion of the Aaranyak article. Can you at least help me with finding what the original text in the article was? I have written correspondence with one of the office bearers/founders of the organisation in 2007 who I even asked to look at the article here for feedback to see if there was any misreprepresentation of the facts for instance. Now that you have deleted the article within a few hours of a speedy notice on my talk page I have no opportunity to do a better job at the information in Wikipedia. I would imagine under such scenarios, it could be useful that the deletor leaves at least a simple stub with a link to the organisation's website considering that there are some internal links that exist in Wikipedia Special:WhatLinksHere/Aaranyak. Looking forward to your response and help.-Deepraj | Talk 17:42, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
- Hi there! Usually in these cases I would be more than happy to userfy the page for you but unfortunately the article appears to have always been a blatant copyright violation of this website. You can find the text there. Unfortunately we cannot accept copyright violations in any form on Wikipedia. A good way to solve this problem would be for the copyright holder to send an email here saying that they release the information under this license.
- I have made it so that the article can be recreated, and you are more than welcome to do so, but please bear in mind that whatever stub you make must assert the organisation's significance in their field and preferably include reliable sources to help verify claims. Hope I've helped but if you need anything else please let me know. PanydThe muffin is not subtle 17:49, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Just to let you know, I'm not the one who tagged this article for speedy deletion. I merely commented on the creator's hangon rationale. Sub Pages
editI am new on here so I am just asking why you deleted a sub page (and how, actually)? I was thinking it must be because I created a sub-page to draft an article, then I moved the article to the main space, so they we have to delete the sub-page? The sub page was littlemslawandorder/u.s.ordnance,inc.
Also, if I want to draft up another article on a variant of a topic posted already, should I create it as a separate page? I believe it stated if there is substantial information about a variation of a current page you should make it it's own page. So I should create a sub-page then, then move it as I had done before? Anything else?
Thank you for your help! Just trying to get all this straight. Wikipedia is very complicated to figure out, and I am fairly tech savvy. Littlemslawandorder (talk) 20:45, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
- Hey there! Your userpage was deleted as an implausable redirect to a page which already existed and as such met one of our criteria for speedy deletion. However, you're more than welcome to recreate the page and edit it to your heart's content! If there was some content on the page before it became a redirect, then you have my apologies. Please just let me know and I will restore those revisions.
- As for how I did it, any administrator can delete most pages on Wikipedia. This includes getting rid of old userpages you no longer need; so if you ever need any help once you're finished with a page just let me know!
- Hope that has helped and if you need anything else feel free to drop me a line. PanydThe muffin is not subtle 16:35, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
That makes sense, I figured once I moved it the page didn't exist anymore! Only other thing was whether or not I should create a sub-page vs. adding to an existing. In all my research for the U.S. Ordnance page I noticed they make a variant of the M60 Machine gun, the Mk43 Mod 0/1 that could potentially classify itself as it's own weapon system. There is enough information I think to create it's own page, and with all the neutrality disputes on the M60 page I thought I'd be better to branch off and give this it's own. Suggestions? Thank you again, Littlemslawandorder (talk) 01:13, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
- I am definitely not qualified to give you a good answer to this. However, I suggest talking to the folks here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Firearms. They specialise in these articles so they may even be able to help you write it! Best of luck. PanydThe muffin is not subtle 14:23, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

editWhat the header says! Glad to see you're feeling better—who else could I piggy-back what don't we have an article on? across London! ;) Anyway, with a bit of luck, I'll see you on the 1st/2nd. As I mentioned to Ironholds remembering all these real names and pseudonyms is bloody confusing! by email, if you need a spare room for Notts and Sheffield, I can probably help you out if you let me know in the next few days or so. Ironholds has got my mobile number if you want to sort details. Anyway, I'm glad you're feeling better. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:08, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Regarding your deletion of Hanthana (operating system).
editI had clearly mentioned I'm using Ubuntu (operating system)'s content as a template for the mentioned article, and I am going to develop the article. Even I didn't, administrators should give enough time for page creators to defend the article. You deleted the page even before an hour passed after the speedy-deletion request.
In my opinion, you are misusing administrator rights. Please refer me to a location where we can complain Wikimedia about such misuses of administrator rights. Thanks! --Budhajeewa (talk) 14:54, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
- Hey there! If you'd like to complain about my use of the tools, please feel free to report me to WP:ANI and someone will address your query (though please tell me when you do!). However, if you'd like, I could move the deleted article into your userspace, and you could work on it there to your heart's content without fear of it being deleted. Or we could do both! Please let me know, whatever you choose. PanydThe muffin is not subtle 14:57, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
- P.s. - I've moved the article to your userspace. You can find it here: User:Budhajeewa/Hanthana (operating system) PanydThe muffin is not subtle 15:00, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
- Moving the page was the first thing you should've done without deleting it. How ever, is it against Wikipedia's terms of use 1. Using another page as a template? 2. Developing the early ages of an article in public space, not in userspace? --Budhajeewa (talk) 15:08, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
- As the page stood it was in violation of our criteria for speedy deletion as it was a public space article which was a complete reproduction of the Ubuntu article and thus may have been misleading to casual readers looking for information on your subject. For this reason, it would be more appropriate for you to use your userspace to recreate the article. There is nothing against using another page, but to have it up in article-space in its early forms is misleading to the public. Hope that helps! PanydThe muffin is not subtle 15:17, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
- You have a point and I agree. But just don't delete pages before even page creators respond to the speedy deletion tag next time. --Budhajeewa (talk) 16:10, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
- You can check the rebuilt article, if you wish :) - Hanthana (operating system). --Budhajeewa (talk) 07:18, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
- Hey, looks really great! May I recommend adding some more reliable sources though? PanydThe muffin is not subtle 20:55, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

editHello Panyd. When you created your personal user page called User:Panyd/WELCOME you mentioned in an edit summary that you were removing it from various categories. This is to let you know that you didn't remove it from all categories and your personal user page is now listed under Category:Wikipedia quick introductions. See HERE. It isn't appropriate for your personal user page to be listed in this category. Regards. Dolphin (t) 07:11, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
- No, you're completely right, that's not appropriate and thank you for bringing that to my attention. Only problem is I can't see for the life of me how to remove it. Can you? PanydThe muffin is not subtle 10:59, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
- By getting rid of all the {{Wikipedia: ...}} I could erase the Categorisation, but then there is almost nothing left. I haven't been able to determine which one of the {{Wikipedia: ...}} is causing it. Good luck! Dolphin (t) 12:19, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, those were my thoughts too. Think I'm just going to have to delete the page. :( Thank you anyway! PanydThe muffin is not subtle 12:21, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

interview request
editHello, My name is Natalia Olaru and I am a final year master student in the Corporate Communication programme at the Aarhus School of Business in Denmark. I am currently working on my final paper on the topic of the motivation of users to create content on collaborative media websites, the focus being Wikipedia. As a sample I chose the English and Danish portals. I would like to invite you for an online interview on the topic of what motivates you, as a user, to participate in editing and creating articles for this platform. Your real identity, and wikipedia account will be kept confidential through the paper. I plan on doing the actual interviews in the period between 6st and the 15th of May via Skype, MSN, Google Talk or Yahoo Messenger. I am, however, open to other channels of communication too. Please let me know if you would like to participate in this interview and the preferred channel. Thank you, Natalia Olaru Email: natalia.ioana.olaru@gmail.com --MulgaEscu (talk) 12:38, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
