Primer formed in Sweden in the spring of 2006. After a lot of discussions and different suggestions, the band took the name Primer during that following summer. Fred (drums) and Oscar (bass) had been playing on and of during a eight years time in different constellations but it took until the fall of 2003 they formed the base that would develop to become one of Swedens biggest music exports ever. Two years later they found Matt G (guitar). Matt had been playing with local bands for years such as Tinituz, Alfredo and the Funkyfied, back spin and more. They really liked his stile and after theyre first rehearsal Matt joined forces with the group formally known as Alive. The band had Freds younger sister taking care of the lead-singing but after a while the singer and the band wanted to go different ways with their music. Fred, Oscar and Matt started to write new material, a little more rock-kind of music, adapted to a male singer. They also started to search for a lead singer whose voice and character would fit the music and the bands attitude overall. An old friend to everybody in the band appeared to the rehearsal and Janis (lead vocal) was asked to join. The band had to come up with a new name and Primer was chosen. To this day the guys have been playing together and the new style of music suites them all. What they sound like? Well you decide. But they do admit that they have influences like Perl Jam, Foo Fighters, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Counting Crows, The Killers and some deeply based roots from blues, funk, country and hard rock.
