Categorizing

edit

I noticed you removed Category:Feminism and transgender from the TERF article via my watchlist. Just letting you know that there is an active discussion about that and probably should let that discussion close before implementing changes.

I also want to let you know that some of your recategorizations have implications you might not have understood. Like when you make a separate category of separate category for trans folks and remove trans women-specific slurs from Category:Pejorative terms for women and add them to Category:Pejorative_terms_for_trans_women, it has a heavy implication that trans women aren't women. While we probably should have the categories for slurs about trans people, they should likely overlap, not be separate from, other categories. Currently, the categorization might put structural inequality into Wikipedia's data structures. Caution is recommended.

Probably best to use Wikipedia:Categories for discussion to discuss and perhaps gain consensus with more controversial categories. Gwen Hope (talk) (contrib) 20:37, 4 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Gwenhope: Category:Pejorative terms for trans women is a subcategory of Category:Pejorative terms for women, so removal of the category is consistent with WP:SUBCAT and was not intended to imply that trans women aren't women. Lmatt (talk) 20:42, 4 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Regardless Lmatt, should probably wait until that above discussion results in consensus before switching around Category:Feminism and transgender and Category:Trans-exclusionary radical feminism stuff. Gwen Hope (talk) (contrib) 20:46, 4 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Unlawfully killed people

edit

A tag has been placed on Category:Unlawfully killed people requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Category:Categories by parameter

edit

I have proposed deleting Category:Categories by biographer. Please see Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2019_November_6#Category:Lists_of_artists_by_biographer. – Fayenatic London 08:18, 6 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

On the same page I have now also proposed reinstating Category:Categories by parameter, and merging the new Category:Categories by noun categorization and Category:Categories by adjectival categorization.

There is often a benefit in bringing a category restructuring proposal to WP:CFD (e.g. for a "split"), or to a talk page such as WT:CAT, rather than making such wide-ranging changes on your own. Wisdom is found in many counsellors. Changing longstanding categories out-of-process is generally frowned upon, as a bad example to newbies, and may be viewed as disruptive. – Fayenatic London 12:10, 6 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Rash editing

Please refrain from radically changing the categories and category content for "Feminism and transgender" while the discussion is still ongoing. That's not appropriate. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 09:46, 7 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

This also applies to 'Categories by XXX categorization'. It is unacceptable to move and create categories during a cfd discussion about them. I would strongly urge you to stop creating categories altogether. Oculi (talk) 13:31, 7 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for persistently making disruptive edits.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.
As I have told you previously, and repeated to you: "It is not just one thing, Lmatt. It is your ongoing pattern of disruptive editing, even after being blocked, that is highly problematic here. You need to turn over a new leaf when you return, and establish an ongoing lengthy pattern of highly constructive and non-controversial editing."
In recent months, Bbb23 blocked you for 31 hours, and I have blocked you for 72 hours, and then one week and then one month. Each time, you have resumed disruptive editing as soon as your block ended. Your behavior is not acceptable. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 03:50, 9 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Template edits

edit

I have rolled back your "good faith" edits to {{int-org-stub}} because they damaged it. The displayed text was wrong with the extra word "stubs" appearing because you had added it as "subject". Please do not edit complex things like templates unless you 100% know what you are doing. I am not familiar with all the complexities of templates so reverted all your edits because I was not sure whether they were causing other damage. PamD 05:59, 12 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of ISO 5

edit

The article ISO 5 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline requirement. WP:BEFORE did not reveal any significant coverage on Gnews, Gbooks or Gscholar. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
