Leningrad Oblast districts

edit

Thank you for trying to help and adding the infoboxes to the articles about the districts of Leningrad Oblast. I notice, however, that you left many of the fields empty and misformatted. If you could go back and fill all those infoboxes properly, that would be greatly appreciated. In their present form, they do not add much. Thank you.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 13:52, June 3, 2009 (UTC)

Could you please let me know if you are planning to re-visit these infoboxes? If not, I will remove them because having almost completely empty infoboxes in articles adds nothing to them (and the articles are rather short to start with; there's not really much to summarize). If you need assistance, please let me know—I'll be happy to help. Cheers,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 01:47, June 11, 2009 (UTC)
The purpose of infoboxes is actually to present an overview of the most important facts in the article, so for articles which are only a few lines long having an infobox is just redundant (even if an appropriate infobox exists). In something like Giaginsky District (which is still rather short), having an infobox makes sense, but for Tosnensky District it is definitely an overkill—one can get the facts from the prose just as quickly as from the infobox.
Anyhoo, the information to populate these boxes does exist, but it is in Russian. If you have no trouble with that, I can point you out to the appropriate sources (some are listed in the above-mentioned article about Giaginsky District), and you'll be able to have all the fun with these district articles you want :) That is, of course, providing that you want to work on these! I aint't gonna blame you if you don't wanna, but in that case it would probably be best to have the boxes removed. In this state they tend to attract more disinformation than genuine useful editing (sadly, I am talking from experience). Let me know what you want to do—like I said, I'd be happy to help you out. I could populate the boxes myself, but there was a reason why I didn't do it in the first place, and that reason is time constraints :( Best,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 02:39, June 11, 2009 (UTC)
Actually, on the second thought, never mind that offer. The sources I have are mostly Word files; if they are available online, it's a pain to find the right versions (especially if your Russian is only basic). The documents themselves are also written in that particularly horrible form of Russian legalese which you probably won't find all that fascinating to wade through. Still, if you want, I can send you an example document, and if it doesn't scare you off, I'll gladly send more (just shoot me an email first, because one can't attach files when initiating communications via wikimail).
The source for the districts population figures is available here (in Excel format).
Cheers,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 21:00, June 15, 2009 (UTC)

Estádio de Ferroviário

Hi Kpstewart, I do not understand why you are picking on this particular stadium, I think that it gives basic information like million of other articles in Wikipeida. Can you explain, please? Teixant (talk) 12:20, 10 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I was on an editing binge (merging pages and verifying unsourced articles). I couldn't find any real reliable sources or any reason why it should be on wikipedia. If you care about the article, show you care by improving it! Kpstewart (talk) 01:41, 11 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject Cannabis

edit

I wanted to thank you for your assistance with some of the chemistry articles (cannabinoids, etc.) associated with WikiProject Cannabis. If you happen to find some spare time, Category:Unknown-importance Cannabis articles contains a list of cannabis-related articles that have not yet received a rating on the Importance scale of our assessment. Since I am not familiar with many of the chemicals, I was wondering if you might be able to assist with more of the ratings, based on Importance. If not, no problem! Just thought someone with a chemistry-oriented mind might have a better understanding of the processes and chemicals involved. Thanks again, and keep up the great work! --Another Believer (Talk) 03:15, 25 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

PRODs

edit

Hi, I noticed that you PRODded Abu Khaled al-Omla, but didn't notify the original editor - it's a specified in WP:PROD that you should do this "4: Notify the article's creator and significant contributors that you have proposed an article for deletion by adding the {{PRODWarning}} tag to their talk page." and is useful as it warns them that they need to do something to prevent their work being removed. I've done so now in this case, but please do it yourself in future.

You also seem to be a bit trigger-happy in PRODding: Haripurdhar was certainly "too short to be an article", but that's what stubs are - and a quick search found a link to give it better geog context; Clem Tibber (I've moved it to correct the capitalisation) had a context, although the editor hadn't linked it (I have). While you've certainly PRODded several articles well worthy of deletion (amateur cyclist, total rubbish, empty page), you perhaps need to check more carefully for context in poorly-written stubs. Proposed merger of port and cities for example Port of Ravenna and Ravenna

edit

The Port of Ravenna is part of the State demesne (Italy) and is apart from the city of Ravenna itself that hosts only 2 of the 12 km of the canal. Furthermore the standard for the relevant ports of a nation is a separate entry... Please remove the "proposed merger" ad if you agree. User_talk:Alberto bazzi

Thank you soo much!

I would love to take you up on the adoption thing. I promise I wont ask a lot of questions. :D IcyCoco (talk) 09:09, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Can you link me to any editing cheat sheets? I know there's a lot to learn but not sure where to start.

Also, how do I accept your adoption offer? IcyCoco (talk) 20:06, 13 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

That's a good question! I'll find out! Kpstewart (talk) 02:51, 14 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello Kpstewart

edit

I've stumbled upon Your profile and I see You love cats. I'm sorry if I bother You but I'm just curious if these are padigree cats or moggies like mine?? :) Next year I'm going to buy a pedigree cat. The choice of the breed was difficult because they're all so cute and have different needs. BTW it's ridiculous what catteries write in their websites. Some of this junk is harmless like tracing an origin of a breed to 60 000 yrs back. But other ones can really hurt the animal. Someone who bought his pet because he read they can scuba dive, don't respond to pain, don't cause allergies when the do etc. may abandon it when the story turns out to be false.

What's your opinion? Should Wikipedia repeat these myths? Many ppl finds them charming but IMHO Wkipedia should be more scientific than promotional. Oh, the kitten we're hoping to live with is Bengal. We've already put a special fencing in our backyard so that our pet can go outdoor whenever he/she wants to. The toys are here too. It's like expecting a baby :) 78.131.137.50 (talk) 05:52, 15 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I love cats. The one I'm with has absolutely no pedigree —I found him on a farm. I am interested in the differences between different breeds of cats, especially the new hybrids like the bengal, but I am not yet convinced that a cat of a pedigree would be better than the cat I have now. I would consider getting one of the supposed "hypoallergenic" breeds because I feel bad when my guests need to take allergy pills; however, I have not found enough evidence to believe the claims. I am of the opinion that Wikipedia should contain a balanced content of verifiable information and should not be promotional.

It is nice to talk with you; however, I would encourage you to get a user account, since it feels nicer to reply to a person instead of an arbitrary IP number. I hope you enjoy your new kitty! --Kpstewart (talk) 00:34, 17 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

RfC: Should a separate article on the dried flowers and leaves variant of the Cannabis plant be made?

edit

Talk:Cannabis (drug)#RFC: Should the section about the dried whole-flower-and-leaf preparation have its own article? If you have the time, would you please analyse my request, as you interested in our Cannabis project. Do you think there should be a separate section for this topic? მაLiphradicusEpicusთე 21:28, 1 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Baltic)

edit

Hi. I see you are listed as a member of a WikiProject of a Baltic state. I was wondering if anybody who actively works on Estonian, Lithuanian or Latvian articles, would be interested in launching your own Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Baltic), based on the Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic) and Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea would be to try to bring about 1000 article improvements and creations on this region as an enjoyable challenge and potentially things like National Contests with prizes. If you'd be interested and think it's something you might regularly contribute to, comment and sign up at Talk:Baltic states. If there is interest we can move this to a project somewhere and set something up, thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 19:26, 26 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 05:01, 20 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 09:26, 6 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

"420" collaboration

edit

As a member of WikiProject Cannabis, you are invited to help organize the project's upcoming "420" collaboration, which is scheduled for April 2017. Yes, we're a few months away, but we're hoping to get the ball rolling by getting buy-in from experienced Wikipedia editors and seek help fleshing out some goals and ideas for a successful campaign. We also plan to conduct both on-wiki and offlline outreach so non-Wikipedias can also contribute. If you are interested in participating, please sign up and contribute to the ongoing discussions. All editors are welcome! ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:52, 10 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
