Dogie

  A Dogie
Here is the puppy some month later. Hafspajen (talk) 19:54, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
He looks like a whole different breed! ;) As long as he's happy! Kafka Liz (talk) 19:59, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
Happily accepted. He can help me terrorise the neighborhood . ;) Kafka Liz (talk) 21:48, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
I'll warn Sean and whatshername next door ;) Ceoil (talk) 10:20, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
Surprise and fear: those are my weapons. Kafka Liz (talk) 10:31, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
Deadly as usual, Liz my dear. Ceoil (talk) 10:59, 1 February 2015 (UTC)

Some things

I know I can never live this down. There is a lot of stuff strewn around these days about the "gender gap" and about women editors. I imagine I don't speak for the majority, but I have always been happy to let my reputation rest on the the quality of my edits. The concept that women need a "safe space" -as if we were somehow a delicate subspecies- is offensive to me. I am a woman, and I don't care at all for the idea that I need special treatment here. Kafka Liz (talk) 23:59, 1 February 2015 (UTC)

Portrait of Monsieur Bertin

I do be needing your help with the prose on this. J'know. I think I've left in a few sentences a long the lines of "its a grand portrait, like". Ceoil (talk) 12:32, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Having a look at the dodgy auld fecker as we speak. Kafka Liz (talk) 12:35, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Hey leave old feckers alone! </defensive old punk> You were always the better writer than I, so....Ceoil (talk) 18:36, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
He's so hot, he's making me sixist. Kafka Liz (talk) 19:32, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Whats wrong with being sixey [1] Ceoil (talk) 19:51, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
If that's what you're into. Kafka Liz (talk) 20:02, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Steady on girls, Bertin was married, well at least before he died 173 years ago. Ceoil (talk) 19:38, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Sheeee-it, bitch. That said, he was French and all. Kafka Liz (talk) 19:46, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Worse than that, half your family are now Paddies! Well at least not Brits :) Ceoil (talk) 19:48, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, the Wops are a bit up in arms about that ;) Kafka Liz (talk) 19:50, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Do I need to be worried. Are they "friends of yours"? Normally Brian 'takes care' of wops. He's big and ugly enough. Dont tell me I need to call in (the) Hosford. Ceoil (talk) 19:53, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
We don't generally talk about such until it's finished. Go watch Long Term Parking if you need help on this front. Kafka Liz (talk) 19:58, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
I'll ask Brian to "talk" with your people. Whom ever survives will determine who controls the tv remote control in our house. The stakes are that high. Ceoil (talk) 20:03, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
The time for "talk" is long past. Brian might just wind up like the chihuahua who meets an Alsatian, you dig? Kafka Liz (talk)
Bring it on. Better wops than you have tried. I'll sacrifice any number of brothers. 20:16, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Bullshit. You'd never have wasted time with Poles and Albanians if you knew what us Wops could do. Meanwhile, your brothers are now free-range meat. I'll take out the vegan first. Kafka Liz (talk) 20:19, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Ah christ. Not only slain brothers, but my dreams of controlling the televison machine are lost, I'll spend the next two years watching downton abbey. Mr Bates never knew such misery. No re runs of Oz for me, it seems. Well. Well, so it is. <Sigh> Ceoil (talk) 20:23, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Just imagine "Mister Bates" making sweet, sweet love with Poet. Then we can watch The Wire. Kafka Liz (talk) 20:30, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Poet always left me cold, too much early 80s downtown New York experimental theater. And fuuuuccck that. Wire I can live with. Ceoil (talk) 20:34, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Then we are done here. Meanwhile, I have a horse's head I need to dispose of. Kafka Liz (talk) 20:36, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
My cousin Richie (the one with the mental beard) specialises in that, Elizabeth Jennings style. Will disposes of horses; no questions. Ceoil (talk) 20:39, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Crazy shit. Better watch myself. Kafka Liz (talk) 20:44, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
Well, I dont know how clever you are. Ceoil (talk) 03:59, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
I have not yet begun to fight. Plus, cats. Kafka Liz (talk) 06:39, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
You should also get some veg in your diet. Try eating an apple or some shit. Kafka Liz (talk) 17:28, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
I only eat what my lovely wife puts in front of me. Also, "an apple"?[2] Ceoil (talk) 11:53, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
Rocky Mountain Oysters it is. "A owl"? And y'all presume to lecture Yanks on grammar? Kafka Liz (talk) 12:50, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
Not really. Lecturing Yanks tends to end in disaster, as my Bristish friends, and Boston's fine harbour, might contest ;) Ceoil (talk) 13:06, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
I'll take tea over six plus feet of snow any day... Meanwhile, I am drowning in casein. Kafka Liz (talk) 13:15, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

Well thats born again Catholics for ya. He lost it for me during Lethal Weapon 2, but in the mid 80s, in all that black leather, forgetaboutit. Cooler even than Yeats. Ceoil (talk) 13:00, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
Tuning you out, and going to watch Gallipoli. Me legs are steel springs, and they fling me down the track. Kafka Liz (talk) 16:54, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
Needs moar Nick Cave (Mad Max, that is. Gallipoli needs nothing). Kafka Liz (talk) 00:52, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
Was driving araound today and flicking thru stations when I heard these guys and they sound quite fun... Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 10:39, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
They had a new song which I can't find oline anywhere that was better...also this was good too, note soundcloud is of older single...Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 10:44, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
Don't know these guys, but I like. :) This is hardly new, but is the only possible response. Kafka Liz (talk)|
I played that for my kids the other day - they liked. I am feeling PC today - saw Pride last week and Selma today with my older two kids. Interesting the detail in hisotry and enjoyable....Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 13:03, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
I'd like to watch Pride, but my oddly pro-Thatcher husband is "agin"-it. I've heard Selma bends the truth a bit re: LBJ - it's ok overall? Kafka Liz (talk) 13:08, 1 March 2015 (UTC
Plus points for having uber-cool kids Kafka Liz (talk) 13:15, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
Not sure on how each varies from the truth as I am not familiar with the source material by any means. Did wonder about that in Selma...and thx for platitude re me kids :) Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 19:31, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
Not all kids are Ministry-ready ;) Selma managed to piss off my mother...but then, perhaps that isn't so hard. Kafka Liz (talk) 03:36, 2 March 2015 (UTC)

visual arts
Thank you for quality articles for project Visual arts, such as Crucifixion and Last Judgement diptych, performed in collaboration and after "reading a lot", well described in your Barnstar of Cultural Transcendence, - repeating: you are an awesome Wikipedian (6 April 2010)!

--Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:01, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

Two years ago, you were the 440th recipient of my PumpkinSky Prize, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:04, 30 March 2015 (UTC)

Gerda...you are such an unabashedly nice person. I'm not certain the wiki deserves you, but I'm happy and grateful that you're here, and this message has cheered me up quite a bit. Best, Kafka Liz (talk) 15:08, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
So you don't think that my user page is a display of hostility? This message cheered me up enormously! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:53, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
Not sure why you'd ask that, but absolutely not. Unless I'm missing something? Kafka Liz (talk) 04:14, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
I ask that because in a recent arbcom request (declined, but I lost another friend over it) it has been linked to for "general hostility, stirring and accusations". Happy Easter (we celebrate 2 days)!
Ah, I'd missed that. Not here all that often, after all, and I've never been much about politics. And if this is about infoboxes... I have my opinion, but I ain't touching that powder keg. :) Kafka Liz (talk) 13:51, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
I wonder how the little boxes became powder kegs, while nobody argues not to have images although some readers can't see them. Did you know that I am the most severely restricted person in the field without ever having been in an edit war. Not easy to achieve, I am tremendously proud of it ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:34, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
Eh, I think that a lot of folks just enjoy a fight. I've been guilty of that myself, upon occasion. Like to think I am past it, but...never say never ;) I was unaware that you had restrictions. Should I ask? Kafka Liz (talk) 19:48, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
See here, two comments per discussion max (and I guess it was my own idea). I made a third one on Laurence Olivier and was taken to arbitrary enforcement. I normally love the restriction because it gives me more time for other things to walk away after two comments. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:20, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
I see. I tend to try to stay away from this sort of thing myself because it does genuinely depress me, but sometimes we are sucked in nevertheless. Meanwhile, at least you have the music articles. Lovely job there; you are to be congratulated :) Kafka Liz (talk) 11:37, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
I could name several people who are too reasonable to engage in those "discussions", and I know that it would be wise for me to stay away, but I can't leave the wounded alone ;) (How many times will I have to hear: "The infobox is not necessary because it is redundant to the lead."? - The infobox is not necessary. Period. Of course it is redundant to the lead, has to be. An abstract is redundant to a book, we still have one. Btw, a shorter and more pleasant discussion came up yesterday, I had my 2 comments and left, to work on my next FA to be, with pleasure, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:06, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
Mmmm, generally speaking, I think they work with some articles yet not with others. And that is all I will say at present. Kafka Liz (talk) 20:40, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
Now you make me curious. One example of not working, perhaps? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:34, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
This again. Sigh. Meanwhile, back on planet earth [3]. Ceoil (talk) 02:58, 12 April 2015 (UTC)

Beautiful and serene, Gerda. Well done. Ceoil (talk) 19:25, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

Hafspajen gave me a selection to pick from, see my 2014 talk archive. Sadly missed, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:02, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

Uh, unless I am mistaken Hafspajen is very much with us. Ceoil (talk) 20:06, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
No, Ceoil, I am not with you. Sadly I have no socks either. They have won. Admins declared me disruptive (even if the other editor is is ten times as disruptive ). Everybody is giving him credit and nobody noticed how badly he acted towards me, and nobody noticed my edits at Signpost were better than his. Or if they did, they don't give a damn. I am not missed, nobody is questioning the whole thing, nobody cares. But yes, they won, and I lost. And I will not come back, not like this. Nobody raised this issue anywhere else, went off-Wiki, kept everything for themselfes, and I am forgotten and gone. No I am not coming back, I really mean this. People are used to the "Haffy will soon be back after a Wikibreak-thing". They think it is going to be like this this time too. It will not be like this. I have been mercilessly abused, hurt, declared disruptive, abandoned, betrayed and dragged in the mud. I have more pride and self-constiousness (however that is spelled) - than you might think. If everybody let those things pass and soon it is forgotten, I will never ever edit wikipedia, I don't want to do that any more. Hafspajen (talk) 23:46, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
Hafspajen I know better than most what its like to get too involved - I have a long and colourful block log, half of it for unadultrated trolling people that annoy me. Tempting, but. My only advice is to step back, unwatchlist, disengage and remember why you liked this place in the first place. There is a pretty good visual arts team here, of which you are a part; think that. Ceoil (talk) 13:30, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
Hafspajen, I prefer you ranting to being silent, but to say you are forgotten while I said a little above that I miss you is not easy for me to take. I miss you.
Thank you for reflecting the Gerechtigkeitsspirale!

Did you know ... that a church's 1510 spiral of justice declares: "Justice suffered in great need. Truth is slain dead. Faith has lost the battle"?

The poem ends with "Praise the right thing".
This is 500 years old and still true, - we will have to live with a not-so-perfect world, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:40, 25 April 2015 (UTC)

Apols

These days I sort of slide in here and don't look at my watchlist (which had to be severely pruned some months ago because an unexplained glitch with a script) for a variety of reasons. I noticed Johnbod's post to Iri's page and didn't even scroll up, so didn't know you were commenting on The Wrestlers. I think I may have stepped on toes (not to say edit conflicted your hubby too!) so sorry all around. I hope I haven't done something to provoke the retired banner. I think it's best for me to put mine back given the number of inadvertent mistakes I managed to make over the weekend. Take care and hope all is well. Victoria (tk) 15:29, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

Wasn't you, trust me, so no apologies necessary. And...no longer retired :) I'm only just getting back into things, so I'm not completely caught up. Kafka Liz (talk) 16:02, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
Also, Vic, haven't noticed any real mistakes. You're a force for good here. I hope you won't be gone for long. Kafka Liz (talk) 16:37, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
Thanks, nice of you to say. Dunno what got into me, except that I wasn't feeling well and it was hot (85 degrees, 87% humidity - just ugh!) so I must not have been thinking straight. Or something. Victoria (tk) 12:02, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

Why, thank you. :) In all seriousness, I was taught (ouch) my instructors taught me that it was best avoided in formal prose, if possible. I argued against it at the time, saying that if it was good enough for the Romans, it was good enough for us. Got shut down pretty quick about it, though. Kafka Liz (talk) 10:44, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi

Hi Liz, thought I'd stop by to wish you and yours felicitations for the first you-know-what! Here's a lovely paper scroll as a prezi. Also, sorry if I've been aloof (it's in my nature, mostly), but wanted you to know that if ever you're so inclined your copyediting skills are more than welcome on any pages I might be working on (hint! hint!). Anyway, again, congrats, and take care. Victoria (tk) 15:00, 30 August 2015 (UTC)

That is genuinely beautiful. Many thanks! I'm a bit of a lazy cow these days, when it comes to copy editing, but a good kick in the pants helps a lot! Anything in particular you'd like me to look at? Kafka Liz (talk) 23:15, 30 August 2015 (UTC)
I'm glad you like it! When I snatched it off the beautiful paper scrolls category on Commons, it occurred to me that you'd be a good person to take a look at The Diary of Lady Murasaki (classical lit, (albeit Japanese), languages, etc.). I'm flying by the seat of my pants there, so to speak, and had good memories of working with you and Maria way back when. But - I totally understand being lazy. Victoria (tk) 12:36, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
Looking and thinking. Very good, overall. There are a few issues (imo), but a) very few and b) those there are need some thought to resolve. You're a good writer, Vic; you don't really need a bunch of help :) Kafka Liz (talk).
Just a quick message to thank you for taking the time to look. I pulled a few more sources yesterday that might help. Essentially I agree there are a few issues but I can't put my finger on what they are and I have to be out for a little while. Take care. Victoria (tk) 05:14, 8 September 2015 (UTC)

Liz, by all means restore your comment if you want to. I haven't finished writing up the close, so there's still time. I archived because I saw the reverting, so I thought it best to draw it to a close. Sarah (talk) 00:20, 6 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Sarah - I'll put it back, then. I imagine it makes no difference, really, but I appreciate your taking the time to comment. Kafka Liz (talk) 00:24, 6 September 2015 (UTC)

Sarah, your close was considered, balanced and fair. The discussion overall was positive - it might have seemed like a storm in a teacup from a distance, but we VA editors thak that stuff...mighty seriously. Ceoil (talk) 07:01, 6 September 2015 (UTC)

But this is kinda OK, or if you wanna spend the day depressed, this. But to get back to reality, I'm an old fart, and I would rather listen to this. Agreed. That's a lovely piece, incidentally. I owe you an email, but I've been mostly staying offline today. Gives me some room to rest and reorganise. I'll be back in the AM, though. Kafka Liz (talk) 23:51, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
That's a hard piece about penitence. A lovely piece is adorn yourself, beloved soul ;) - no rush, I am on vacation. I had a dream - listening to the surf - that we'd do better filling the socalled gender gap by writing articles on women. One is pictured on the Main page, hook by me ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:48, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
--Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:06, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

Listening and liking. It's hard for me to "write about women" because I really don't see the world that way. I write about the things I'm interested in (paintings, sculpture, cemeteries, obscure Turkish towns), which sometimes are about women yet more often are not. But point taken. Kafka Liz (talk) 08:14, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

Will take a gander, though it may not be until the AM. Kafka Liz (talk) 19:32, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
Very nice work Liz. The page might yet be worth reading if you keep this up, haha. Tks. Ceoil (talk) 21:06, 4 October 2015 (UTC)

Diplomatic options, see 'Talk:Macedonia naming dispute'.

Dear Kafka Liz, please se 'Talk:Macedonia naming dispute'. Thanks for support. P.S. I will not discus further on that subject.77.46.206.215 (talk) 22:46, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

Well, that's probably a good thing, though you are welcome on my talkpage. The Macedonia naming issue was the subject of an extended Arbcom case some years back. The whole thing was rather painful and cost us more than one good editor. I've no real wish to revisit those days. Kafka Liz (talk) 01:07, 28 October 2015 (UTC)

A strange choice, if I may say. I don't have anything to offer in return at present. Kafka Liz (talk) 15:43, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
Except perhaps this. Kafka Liz (talk) 21:28, 8 November 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. For being the most important and loving person in my life, and a constant source of pride and joy. And for being, ahem stupid enough the marry a Kelleher. You and Mike both! This greeting is also extended to kitty the unnamed cat, so to my two American/Italian/Irish/Siberian visitors :) Ceoil (talk) 18:14, 20 December 2015 (UTC)
Nothing I can say to match that. I can say, though, that I love you more than anything or anyone in this world, and the day we married was the happiest day of my life. Kafka Liz (talk) 04:32, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

Best wishes for the holidays...

Happy Holidays

Season's greetings!
I hope this holiday season is festive and fulfilling and filled with love and kindness, and that 2016 will be successful and rewarding...Modernist (talk) 23:29, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
Modernist, there's nothing better for the holidays than a gaggle of naked women. Much appreciated. Kafka Liz (talk) 04:35, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for good comments and an aria last! 2016 had a good start, with a Bach cantata (a day late) and an opera reflecting that we should take nothing to seriuz, - Verdi's wisdom, shown on New Year's Day, also as a tribute to Viva-Verdi. (Click on "bell" for more.) Miss Yunshui (among others) and his harmonious editing. We can only try to follow the models of those who left. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:34, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

Very lovely. Thank you, Gerda :) Kafka Liz (talk) 04:27, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

Q

Not sure what is the equivalent of an Ecumenical Matter when it comes to the Wedding Present, but "before ah wassh me Hair". Surely that should be "I". Should we ask the helpful souls on AN/I. Ceoil (talk) 12:55, 7 February 2016 (UTC)

"Just". The word you are looking for is "just". Kafka Liz (talk) 13:25, 7 February 2016 (UTC)

When you get a chance, can you take a look at Saint Luke Drawing the Virgin, now at FAC. The prose are typically convoluted, hence my asking. You might be merciful in your critique, I never said I could spell, even in court. Ceoil (talk) 13:49, 6 March 2016 (UTC)

Will do, in exchange for your checking your email. Kafka Liz (talk) 15:00, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
Done, and replied. Remember, this is all conditional on you not telling anybody I've been listening to Dire Straits. Ceoil (talk) 15:16, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
As someone who may or may not have been listening to The E Street Band, your secret is safe with me. Kafka Liz (talk) 15:30, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
Dodgy 80s nostalgia tinted now ok enabler! Ceoil (talk) 15:34, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
Blame Little Steven and a rewatch of The Sopranos. Kafka Liz (talk) 15:38, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
Little Steven can do no wrong around here. As an actor. Please tell me you haven't been listening to 1970s Boss. That would break my mother's heart.Ceoil (talk) 21:04, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
More 80s, I fear. Story of my life. Kafka Liz (talk) 22:38, 6 March 2016 (UTC)

Elizabeth, my dear, can you apply your magical c/e skills to Portrait of Maria Portinari, which was written by a cauliflowered Irishman with no understanding of even basic grammer. Ceoil (talk) 13:31, 23 April 2016 (UTC)

It is so nice that my tiny lady-brain has a use. Otherwise I'd just be twiddling my thumbs and having no opinion. Kafka Liz (talk) 15:07, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
Txs for edits, and for getting the stone roses ref, though aquardly placed. Next post will hint towards Northside's third B-single. Ceoil (talk) 01:42, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
