Packers Fan HoF merger
editWas such a merger discussed any place? I'm curious because I'm not sure it's a prudent move to merge the two topics together. That was a large dump of content from the one article into the other, and I would think such a move would be discussed first. I mean, I could be convinced that it's the right thing to do, but I don't see any prior discussion. I'd be tempted at this precise moment to revert the merger per WP:BRD. Imzadi 1979 → 02:59, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Imzadi1979, you are 100% correct, it was a bold merge. I weighed that versus AFD and considered the likely result of an AFD would be a merge anyway. The Fan HoF is part of the bigger Packers HoF, the list of fans are all people who are not notable and right down to it, it is basically a corporate contest. All that said, I obviously would not stand in the way of any reversion and would happily take part in any discussion about the topic. If you do choose that route, WP:NFL may be a good place for the discussion. Wherever it ends up, if you do start the discussion, please send me a link. Thanks! « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 14:27, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
- On an unrelated note, I noticed your user page and fandom of the Packers. If you ever want to collaborate on an article in the WP:PACKERS-area please let me know! « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 16:40, 4 April 2023 (UTC)

- Following an RfC, editors indefinitely site-banned by community consensus will now have all rights, including sysop, removed.
- As a part of the Wikimedia Foundation's IP Masking project, a new policy has been created that governs the access to temporary account IP addresses. An associated FAQ has been created and individual communities can increase the requirements to view temporary account IP addresses.
- Bot operators and tool maintainers should schedule time in the coming months to test and update their tools for the effects of IP masking. IP masking will not be deployed to any content wiki until at least October 2023 and is unlikely to be deployed to the English Wikipedia until some time in 2024.
- The arbitration case World War II and the history of Jews in Poland has been closed. The topic area of Polish history during World War II (1933-1945) and the history of Jews in Poland is subject to a "reliable source consensus-required" contentious topic restriction.
- Following a community referendum, the arbitration policy has been modified to remove the ability for users to appeal remedies to Jimbo Wales.

- Two arbitration cases are currently open. Proposed decisions are expected 5 July 2023 for the Scottywong case and 9 July 2023 for the AlisonW case.

- The tag filter on Special:NewPages and revision history pages can now be inverted. This allows hiding edits made by automated tools. (T334338)
- Special:BlockedExternalDomains is a new tool that allows easier blocking of plain domains (and their subdomains). This is more easily searchable and is faster for the software to use than the existing MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist. It does not support regex (for complex cases), URL path-matching, or the MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist. (T337431)

editGreetings! I have reassessed this article to a start status again because both Sportsfangnome and I both agree on the assessment. Bears-Packers notable games.
editI do want to ask, what makes you think the game on September 10 to be not that notable? I feel like it should be that notable since it was Jordan Love's first start against the Bears and his first game as a full time starter in replacement of Aaron Rodgers who dominated the Bears in his years against the Packers and Love absolutely dominated them. I mean yes the game wasn't that exciting and wasn't that close but the fact that Love did absolutely well in his first start against the Bears should be notable itself. I mean as a Bears fan myself I can consider that game to be notable because of how well Love did in his first start. Chicagosports2004 (talk) 15:14, 19 September 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Chicagosports2004, admittedly, these decisions are sometimes challenging unless the notability of the game is blatantly obvious (Instant Replay Game, a playoff game, etc). When I looked at the Bears–Packers rivalry, we are talking 100+ years, 200+ games, thousands of players, etc. So I ask myself, in 5 years, in 20 year, in 100 years, will this game still be remembered? There is definitely a storyline there (as you said, Rodgers to Love, Love's first start. etc), however, that storyline suffers strongly from recentism. Who knows how Love will do? Who knows if this game is the start of another Hall of Fame career. At this point, the game was a fairly standard week 1 match-up where one team beat the other by a lot of points. The game was only talked about in the news for a few days and then it moved on to coverage of each team's week 2 match-ups/results.
- All that said, that page suffers a lot from being too detailed with "notable games". I just don't have the time to clean it up, but I do have the time to try to prevent every match-up from being added. Hope that helps you understand my thinking. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 17:19, 19 September 2023 (UTC)

Bucs Packers Game results
editSo I get that my edits were "unnecessary", but take a look at the other rivalry pages for formatting (for example Raiders Seahawks when they were division rivals before). I would like to at least keep the notes that were did put in, like Super Bowl wins and what not. Demrep (talk) 22:35, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Demrep. Your edits did the following things:
- Removed accessibility features for screen readers to better read tables (the "scope=" parts, see MOS:ACCESS and MOS:TABLE for more)
- Removed the column width percentages, which make all the different tables have wildly varying widths (looks cleaner and more professional this way)
- You also included factual errors, like changing the record from 2-0 to 3-0 in 1978.
- Applied color schemes that were inconsistent from table to table.
- I know other rivalry pages do things differently, but that doesn't make it right or wrong. WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS isn't a great argument for why something should be one way or the other. I'm not sure what you mean by the notes, but I did try to go back and retain things that were beneficial. If there is something that I accidentally reverted, please feel free to put it back in. But please, in the future, use edit summaries so people know what you are changing. And generally any new, large changes (like applying color schemes differently) should go to the talk page first. Also, just a friendly note and not 100% sure if this is relevant to you or not, but please remember that editing as an IP and then editing while logged in can be construed as socking. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 00:31, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hey, fair enough. But as a heads up, there will be others that will probably look at the formatting, especially the notes section with the align=left stuff and will probably try to change them as well. But yeah, I'll stick to notes at this point since you draw a hard line there with the WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS portion. Demrep (talk) 01:28, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
Placeholder images
editWith respect, it was implemented site wide and remains so. Somewhere on the order of more than 100,000 uses of placeholder images have been removed from the project when that was implemented. I've done just a tiny fraction of those. It's common practice to not use them. Please see the top of Category:Wikipedia image placeholders where it says "The use of these placeholders is deprecated. Many editors objected to their appearance, though some felt that they worked for the intended purpose."
. Please see the top of Wikipedia:Image placeholders where it says "Image placeholders were formerly used on Wikipedia for biographies of living persons but have since been deprecated. As of 2020 all placeholder images have been removed from the main namespace."
. There's been various WP:AN/I discussions as well that I could link to if you like. Bottom line, their use is deprecated on en.wiki. --Hammersoft (talk) 01:01, 14 December 2023 (UTC)
