HERE BECAUSE OF DEPP V HEARD? Please read the verdict from the High Court of England and Wales. The verdict is too long to read? Here's an excellently written summary of this entire saga.
I'm Susie, a film lover based in Northern Europe. I joined Wikipedia in 2012 to help Loeba in getting Charlie Chaplin to Featured article status; Chaplin is one of my favourite filmmakers of all time, and his films remain some of the most perfect ever made. Although I had initially planned on only contributing to Chaplin's article, I got hooked on editing and decided to stay. Unfortunately, I'm a bit of a perfectionist and hence tend to work slowly. My only one other FA project so far has been Marilyn Monroe, although I did also help with James Stewart.
I rarely take on large projects, but like to copyedit and review articles; if you'd like some help, leave me a message and I'll be happy to lend a hand if I'm not too busy! My main area of interest is film/pop culture, but I often edit articles from other areas as well — wherever the Wikipedia rabbit hole takes me. In terms of editing "philosophies", I think it's important to keep in mind that we're writing for the casual reader, not for someone who wants to become an expert; Wikipedia should not aim to be an A to Z on every topic, but to provide balanced overviews with suggestions for further reading. Editors should also remember that none of us is free from bias, although we can and should strive to recognize ours and edit in a balanced way. I don't take sides in the Great Infobox War, and don't wish to become an admin.
Finally (congrats if you've actually read this far), here's some ramblings about the types of films I like, for no useful reason...
- My favourite genre is horror, except for so-called torture porn. The Shining (1980), Halloween (1978), The Others (2001), American Psycho (2000), The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920), Silence of the Lambs (1991), Jaws (1975), The Birds (1963), Deep Red (1975), The Fog (1980) and Tenebrae (1982) are amongst my all-time favourites. I dream of one day founding a film festival dedicated to hilariously bad horror films, such as Slugs (1982).
- I also have a soft spot for silly 1980s Hollywood comedies, Winona Ryder, and film noirs starring Veronica Lake.
- I hate musicals.
- Best films seen in recent years: Parasite, Promising Young Woman and In Fabric.
Addendum: My username comes from True Heart Susie (1919), a D.W. Griffith film starring Lillian Gish. I chose it very randomly, simply because I liked the sound of it and thought I was only going to participate in the Chaplin project... in reality, I have not seen this film, nor do I like Griffith or Gish. Far from it, actually.
These made me smile
