Paul Andrews, (born 22 March 1990) is an Irish footballer who plays with League of Ireland side Drogheda United. Andrews plays as a defender.
Amateur
editAndrews joined the Shelbourne academy at the age of 8 and remained there for nine years. During this time, he captained his side for five years and was selected to play with the Manchester United Academy for one season. At the age of 15, Andrews was asked to play with the reserves to the professional team.
In 2007, Andrews moved to Drogheda United for one season. He trained and played with the professional team during this year and was offered a contract but declined in order to study in America. Andrews then moved to Northern Kentucky University where he was a full starter for two seasons. In 2010, Andrews was part of the NKU men's soccer team won the NCAA Division II national championship by defeating Rollins 3-2 in a driving snowstorm in Louisville.[1] In two season at NKU, Andrews played in 45 games for the Norse with 5 goals and 14 assists.
Andrews then transferred to George Mason University for his final two years. He finished with 2 goals and 1 assist in 35 appearances for the George Mason Patriots. During his time at college, he also appeared for the Cincinnati Kings and Real Maryland
Career

editAndrews returned to Ireland in 2013 and signed for his youth club, Shelbourne. During his short time here, Andrews played in 10 games and scored 2 goals which attracted attention from rival clubs.
Drogheda United
editAndrews signed a professional contract with Drogheda United in January 2014.
Personal
editAndrews was born in Skerries, Co.Dublin. Andrews has two sisters and one brother who previously played for Queen's Park Rangers. While at college, he earned a marketing degree.
