editSo is the "æ" a ligature, or the Anglo-Saxon aesc? If the former, let's rename this article & do away with this 18th-century pretention.
BTW, there is a far more famous Praetextatus, who was a 4th century Roman, friend of Quintus Aurelius Symmachus -- & advocate for the traditional Roman paganism. So far I guess I'm the only one who has gone looking for the pagan Vettius Agorius Praetextatus & found the Christian one. -- llywrch 05:27, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

Prætextatus (Bishop of Rouen) → Prætextatus (bishop of Rouen) –
- No need to capitalise "bishop". Srnec (talk) 01:00, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
- I object; "Bishop of Rouen" is a title and thus ought to be capitalized, like "Queen of England" or "Secretary of the Interior". Powers T 01:25, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
- Or to Praetextatus (bishop of Rouen)? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 05:42, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
- Propose (and support) move to Praetextatus (bishop) per WP:PRECISION. No other bishops of that name around, and the spelling without the ligature does seem to be more common on Google Books. Favonian (talk) 14:50, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
- There was a Bishop Praetextatus at Assurae and nother at Apt in antiquity. Srnec (talk) 02:38, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose Powers is correct; "Bishop of Rouen" is a proper title. Prætextatus (Rouen) might do if further precision is desired. --BDD (talk) 23:22, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
- I do not believe that "bishop of Rouen" was a "proper title" in the 6th century. Srnec (talk) 16:40, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
- Based on Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Rouen#Bishops, it looks like the office was well established by then. --BDD (talk) 16:48, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
