naturalized citizen or alien?
editHow can the Office of Alien Property Custodian "assume control and dispose of enemy-owned property in the United States and its possessions" and seize Tesla's belongings? Despite becoming a US citizen in 1891, was he still regarded as Austrian, and thus since 1938 as German? After all, it was 1943. 2003:C6:374E:3A05:5033:EE65:3DF1:1BC6 (talk) 20:58, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
- Also, if the National Defense Research Committee existed only until 1941, how could it act in 1943? 2003:C6:374E:3A05:5033:EE65:3DF1:1BC6 (talk) 21:04, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
- The US was at war with Germany and Japan when Tesla died. During wartime, government offices can get away with things less likely to happen during peacetime. Tesla was of obvious foreign birth, had no descendents and probably no heirs to argue against the order, so they were probably taken to (hopefully) aid the war effort with no contest.
- From the National Defense Research Committee article, "Its working arm was superseded by the Office of Scientific Research and Development in 1941, but it remained as an influential advisory and consulting agency until it was terminated in 1947." Stepho talk 23:07, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
Contradicting information
editHow can "Tesla first studied engineering and physics in the 1870s without receiving a degree", while later "He finished a four-year term in three years, graduating in 1873" is stated? 2001:1C06:1B06:1A00:3071:CADF:36B6:FADF (talk) 23:27, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
