Talk:IMZ-Ural
Origins
editThe previous intro said the technology and production facilities were licensed from BMW. This is only one of at least two theories. The article presents the theories so I've made the intro more "fuzzy" to allow for either being true. It seems even well-read historians of this motorcycle debate this point. (See some of the online forums and printed journalism articles, for example.) --Ds13 18:12, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- Much of the five bmw theory seems to be a direct copy (copy-vio) of http://www.ural.com.au/history.html
There is a more plausible explanation from the current Chinese manufacturs of these bikes at http://www.sidecar.co.za/history_of_the_cj750.html - Seasalt 05:23, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
rendering
editSome of the pictures are covering some of the text. If I knew how, I'd fix it, but . . . . —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.119.206.134 (talk) 00:31, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Writing style
editThe history of the "URAL" had begun with the glory of helping to defeat the terror of Hitler's armies on the Russian and European battlefields.
URALs are a unique combination of price, classic styling and side-car, just like my "dad's or grandad's bike".
Couple of excerpts, sounds a bit like promotional copy to me. Was (part of) this text taken from a brochure? And is there anyone familiar with this manufacturer that can separate fact from fiction, while maintaining the tone that suits an encyclopaedia? -- MiG (talk) 11:06, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
Timeline
editQuoting from the article, "In July 2000, the company was re-organised with the government's shares being redistributed to investors. At the beginning of 1998 the business was bought by private Russian interests and it is no longer a State Company."
This seems to be a contradiction; if the government shares were only sold in mid-2000, how could the company have become private over 2 years earlier? Some clarification would be welcome IMHO. --Stizzleswick (talk) 03:31, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
