Part of an edit requested by an editor with a conflict of interest has been implemented. [see below]
Hello! As noted on my profile, my name is Clay and I work for Stagwell which has Elevance Health as a client. I'm here on Wikipedia to submit small edits but use "Talk" pages for assistance and editor discussion.
Issue: Having all past and present acquisitions, subsidiaries and brand name changes listed only within the History section makes it hard to know what the current subsidiaries are.
Request: adding major subsidiaries to the Infobox + a new page section for Subsidiaries
Source: I can list the sources I cite below as a bulleted list, but I have written and marked up what I feel is concise version of what this Subsidiaries section could be:
===Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield===
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield offers individual & family, Medicare, small business, dental and vision insurance plans[1] in 14 states (Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, Ohio, Virginia, and Wisconsin).[2] In January 2023, Elevance announced the intended purchase of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana. Louisiana would become the 15th state where Anthem Blue Cross health insurance will be sold.[3]
===Wellpoint===
In 2004, WellPoint Health Networks and Anthem merged.[4] The parent company originally assumed the name WellPoint before changing its corporate name to Anthem in December 2014.[5] In June 2022, Elevance Health announced Wellpoint as a subsidiary brand to offer Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial health plans across markets that are not part of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.[6] On January 1, 2023, Amerigroup Maryland became the first provider to be re-branded as Wellpoint.[7]
===Carelon===
Carelon was launched in June 2022 to include pharmacy benefit manager Ingenio Rx (since re-branded CarelonRX[8]), behavioral health provider Beacon Health Options, myNEXUS home healthcare,[9] and other brands focused on medical benefits management, palliative care, and healthcare technology.[10]
===Amerigroup===
Founded in 1994,[11]Amerigroup provides Medicaid, Medicare, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), long-term care health insurance, and managed health care.[12]
===DeCare Dental===
Manages PPO and indemnity dental plans for approximately 4.6 million individuals in the United States and Europe. The company's subsidiary DeCare Dental Networks manages 10 direct dental networks in the US and abroad.[13]
===HealthLink===
Provides network rental and administrative services to employers, unions, governmental subdivisions, schools, and insurance companies.[12]
Thank you for your consideration. I applied sectioning not considering rules on what warrants section markup vs. another format like a bulleted list or a simple series of sentences within an existing section. My overall intent is to provide clarity around Elevance Health's subsidiaries and I didn't see how that helpful info could be entered in under an existing header like History or Quality of care. If you agree that having a brief list of Elevance Health's subsidiaries is, indeed, helpful to readers, what section would you recommend using to add the list (as a bulleted list?) Issue: while I realize the Controversies section has a note about 2007 committed vs. actual donations, there are many examples of actual donations that have benefited notable organizations, as cited by noteworthy references
Request: add a new section for Charitable donations
Source: I can list the sources I cite below as a bulleted list, but I have written and marked up what I feel is concise version of what this Community involvement section could be:
Through the Elevance Health Foundation, the company builds partnerships and funds programs that seek to aid the health of socially vulnerable populations within the United States.[17] Since its creation, the organization has awarded $280 million dollars[17] to local and national organizations such as The American Red Cross,[18]American Heart Association[19] and the Feeding America network.[20]
Not done: Sources are subpar. Info is largely based on the foundation itself (non-independent) and press releases (promotional). Throast{{ping}} me! (talk | contribs) 17:04, 24 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Throast: Thank you for your guidance. Looking for independent and non-promotional sources, I believe I found several that qualify such as these by The Atlanta Voice[21], Bristol Herald Courier[22], Health Payer Intelligence[23] and by Sinclair's WCYB news site[24]. If including this as a section named community involvement is not the appropriate way to include this, perhaps a Foundations section such as seen on the UnitedHealth Group page is the more objective way to call out that Elevance Health has foundations that make help communities.
