The surrounding hills are scattered with standing stones. Some mention of the meaning or significance of these would be welcome (there are some legends associated with specific ones). Much of the land is given over to farming and many of these stones stand in fields.
Additionally, a farm close to Cairnpapple Hill has a ring of standing stones in a field, which looks suspiciously like a modern, artificial creation to me. Some discussion of this would also be helpful. Preacherdoc 13:18, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
