Name of article
editMost of the sources I can find call this person "Brahma Kumari Shivani" "BK Shivani" or "Sister Shivani". It is better to rename the article based on how the person is better known. Not sure if anyone is watching this page.....Chandrika.patel (talk) 09:32, 9 December 2015 (UTC)
Requested move 9 December 2015
edit- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: no consensus. Listed for over three weeks and in that time we've had arguments for several different titles but nothing close to agreement. Jenks24 (talk) 11:34, 2 January 2016 (UTC)
Shivani Verma → Brahma Kumari Shivani – Standard google searches show this person never goes by their birth name "Shivani Verma". All her engagements are as "Brahma Kumari Shivani" or abbreviated to BK Shivani. I am proposing it make it much easier for people to find if it's listed with the 'title' under which she has become well known - as a Brahma Kumari teacher. It doesn't seem to be a very active article so there I don't think it's controversial. There is someone else called "Shivani" that comes up, so it might help with that too. - Move to Shivani (spiritual teacher) or Sister Shivani – I checked the sources cited in the article, and the suggested name, which seems to involve some sort of honorific title, is not consistently used. Among those sources, the most common forms seemed to be just "Shivani" or "Sister Shivani". None of them seem to use "Verma" in reference to her (although one does use "Verma" for her husband). The sourcing in the article does not seem very good in general, and about half of the links are dead links, so it is a bit hard to tell what to do, but based on the sources, this should be "Shivani (spiritual teacher)" or "Sister Shivani". —BarrelProof (talk) 01:38, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
- Oppose stick with real name at this point. So far most of those appear to be devotee sources, need some evidence from 3rd party sources. In ictu oculi (talk) 11:48, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
- What's more book sources treat "Sister Shivani" as Mary lePage wife of Haridas lePage devotees of Abhedananda / Ramakrishna in 1920s California. In ictu oculi (talk) 11:50, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

- Thank you for the input. One principle that I would like to point out for Wikipedia purposes is the WP:NPOV policy. Articles here are supposed to be "neutrally" phrased. They are not intended as promotional advertisements, so we tend to avoid biased opinionated phrasing like referring to "her excellence in empowering Spiritual Consciousness" or saying she "touched and transforming the lives of millions" and that her show is "widely popular" and "has empowered individuals from all walks of life ...". We might consider quoting some other person's writing who said such things, but we should not present this sort of biased opinionated evaluation as if these things are undisputable facts. Another principle is WP:Verifiability, as established by including citations to WP:Reliable sources. I suggest to review the material found at those links. I corrected a couple of problems that you pointed out in conversation on your User talk page. If there are some other specific aspects that you think are incorrect or if there are some specific items of additional material that you think should be included in the article, please let's discuss those specific aspects further. I will also try to further review the material you submitted above. —BarrelProof (talk) 23:53, 23 March 2018 (UTC)
