Merge

edit

Shouldn't this be merged with Antiquity? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 14:57, 8 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Ok, it has been done. Antiquity is a disambig. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 20:46, 3 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Good Job!!!

edit

I thought he/she did a great job writing this!

P.S. We're studying this in school right now

I think he/she did a great job describing everything!

until 750 AD?

edit

Most figures I see in encyclopedias and academic literature date the end of ancient history with the fall of the western roman empire, with the latest figures dating it to the coming of islam. 2A02:A461:A4DC:1:A816:EC5:9D78:AFB (talk) 08:14, 20 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

"with the fall of the western roman empire" Are you reading encyclopedia's from the 19th century? Late antiquity (3rd-8th centuries) is still part of antiquity. Dimadick (talk) 12:36, 20 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
did the page get updated? Now the opening paragraphs seemingly cite 500 AD as the end date. 84.87.208.157 (talk) 03:07, 11 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Three-Age System

edit

The first paragraph of the article lists the three-age system (Stone, Bronze, and Iron Ages) as being divisions of ancient history. However, those are considered to be divisions of pre-history. Should the article be changed to reflect that? Pretendus (talk)

Filled in missing Southeast Asia & Oceania section

edit

Copied text from Austronesian peoples, History of Southeast Asia, and Maritime Silk Road. See those pages for attribution. Still missing a lot, especially with MSEA cultures (Mon, Tai, etc.) but at least there's a framework now.

I removed the older text mentioning New Guinea [Papuans] and Indigenous Australians, since they originate from much older Paleolithic migrations, and are not the ancestors of Polynesians, nor the inventors of outrigger boats or domesticators of taro or chicken as the text wrongly claimed. OBSIDIANSOUL 10:56, 16 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
