Biography
editJoan Vila Dilme was born in 1966 in Spain. He worked as a security guard at the La Caritat convalescent home in Olot.[citation needed]
Vila was arrested on October 18, 2010, after the death of 85-year-old Paquita Gironès. Vila had forced her to drink bleach.[1][2] He confessed to killing 3 elderly patients by giving them bleach[2]
Vila was sentenced to 127 years in prison on June 20, 2013. Psychologists Miguel Soria and Lluis Borrás stated that Vila is transgender and that perhaps his killings are a result of extreme gender dysphoria. Vila stated that he was gay and claimed to be a cross-dresser from an early age.[3] He also said he suffers from bipolar disorder.
