On September 17, 2021, Díaz contract was selected to the 40-man roster and he was promoted to the major leagues for the first time.[7] He made his MLB debut that night versus the Oakland Athletics.[8] In 3 appearances during his debut campaign, he allowed 6 runs on 11 hits with 9 strikeouts in 13.0 innings pitched.

In 2022, Díaz spent the majority of the season in Triple–A with Salt Lake. In 4 games (3 starts) for the Angels, he recorded a 2.93 ERA with 11 strikeouts across 15+13 innings of work. On November 18, 2022, Díaz was designated for assignment by the Angels;[9] he was non–tendered by the team the same day, and became a free agent.[10]

On December 15, 2022, Díaz re–signed with the Angels on a minor league contract. In 38 appearances for Triple–A Salt Lake, he registered a 9–2 record and 4.55 ERA with 79 strikeouts in 87.0 innings of work. On September 7, 2023, the Angels selected Díaz's contract, adding him to the major league roster.[11] In 4 appearances for the team, he struggled to a 10.29 ERA with 4 strikeouts in 7.0 innings of work.
