The Riveter is a Donald Duck cartoon with Pete, originally released on March 15, 1940.
Synopsis[]
Donald lands a job working high steel as a riveter for construction foreman Pete.
Plot[]
The episode begins in a big city with a skyscraper being built. Suddenly a pig construction worker is kicked out of the workzone by the foreman (potrayed as Pete). After firing the lazy worker, he pounds a 'Riverter Wanted' sign in the ground. Donald walks by the site, noticing the sign and applies for the job. The foreman doubts him at first, but Donald says he is ready. The foreman tosses a rivet gun to Donald, who is tasked to work at the top of the skyscraper. Using a fast lift to the top, Donald is dazed by the lift but upon seeing how high is makes him cling to the frame of the building. The foreman notices and yells at him to get to work. Donald taunts him, though the foreman quickly reaches him to question his comment.
Getting annoyed, the foreman demands he get to work. Donald, unsure how to work the rivet gun, start messing around with it. He ends up getting rivets shot in his hat. Angry at the gun, kicks it causing to go off with is foot caught in the handle. He is pounded around the site, pinning the foreman diagram into paper shapes, pounding a worker flat, and pinning the overalls of a worker to a beam. After reaching a gap, Donald is able to get free, but has become overreactive to the sound of both his and other rivet guns. The foreman taking a lunch break tells Donald to put pepper on his sandwich, he attempts to, but his reaction caused him to throw the pepperin the foremans face causing him to sneeze. Donald tries to remide this by giving him a cup of hot tea, which he ends up throwing in his face. And trying to make for his mistake, he lights the foreman a cigar, which he accidentally pounds into the foremans mouth. Now fed up with Donalds antics, the foreman tries to chase Donald away, but ends up falling into a tub of quick drying plaster, which shapes him into a fountain statue.
