"Temple of the Porcelain God" is the eleventh episode of the first season of Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero. It premiered on February 23, 2015.

Synopsis[]

Penn, Boone and Sashi are 1920s explorers in a race against time to complete their mission while being chased by Rippen and a giant man-eating toilet.

Plot[]

The episode starts with Penn, Boone and Sashi, all of them being explorers, falling down a cliff. Penn and Boone hold hands together while Sashi starts running down the cliff with her legs. She then jumps and grabs a vine, before grabbing Penn and Boone, saving them from their fall. A giant toilet beast jumps and bites towards the heroes, trying to eat them. The screen then turns beige, revealing the screen to be a recording of a recently-completed mission.

Phyllis tells the heroes she is showing this recording, so they can learn various lessons. Penn tells her he has an important report tomorrow and goes away, but he is stopped by Phyllis, who asks what is the report about, which Penn tells her it is about science. Penn eventually sits back down, annoyed. Boone tells Phyllis her mom is making a meatloaf tonight, but she insists that they remain sit down so they can view the recording.

Phyllis rewinds the recording back at the beginning as the screen turns back to its normal colors. Penn tells Sashi to tell the mission and does so: they have to return a golden idol shaped like a roll of toilet paper to a temple before it and the jungle get swallowed by the earth. Boone notes how the idol looks like a roll of toilet paper, which Sashi negates it. Outside the recording, Penn points out how Sashi was wrong about the idol, causing Sashi to get annoyed and go away. Penn joins Sashi as he excuses himself to Phyllis, saying he is going to a doctor's appointment, and Boone joins them too as he sings a meatloaf anthem for his mom's meatloaf party. Phyllis grabs the three with a robotic claw and places them back at their sit as she continues the recording.

Back at the recording, Penn and his friends are traveling through a pat filled with stone sculptures of tubes and bathtubs before a car appears, driving towards them. The heroes escape from the car as it stops just right in front of the heroes. Rippen and Larry turn out to be the drivers, asking the heroes to give them the idol in exchange for a whip. Penn asks why would he do that, which Rippen tells him it is a quality whip, but Penn tells him he saw better whips. Rippen gets annoyed and tries to strike him with his whip, but it isn't long enough to reach. The heroes then flee away from Rippen as they stumble upon a bridge made of plungers. The heroes traverse through the bridge, but one of Boone's flip-flops fall off, so he goes to recover it. Rippen tries to traverse it, but he almost breaks one of the plungers, so he tells Larry to come in first. Larry tries to traverse, but he breaks the first plungers, causing the bridge to fall apart, but, luckily for him, Boone gets his leg tangled up by the bridge's rope, preventing him from falling.

Outside the recording, Sashi tells Boone it was his own fault for not wearing shoes, but he tells her flip-flops are his thing as he shows the back of his shirt, revealing text saying "FLIP-FLOPS ARE MY THANG". They then sit back as the recording continues.

Back at the recording, Boone is screaming in fear as the rope his leg is tangled up to is about to break, but, thankfully, Penn uses a plunger from the bridge to throw it at a rock, so he can use the attached rope to swing and rescue Boone. The boys both impact against the ground, causing the idol to bounce away. Rippen picks the idol up as he and Larry drive away, but, however, Sashi is below the car and pulls one of its pieces off, causing the car's chassis to detach and, therefore, sending Rippen and Larry off a cliff. The impact against the ground causes the idol to ricochet away from the villains, getting caught by Penn. Penn tells his friends to go to the temple, but he steps on a trap, causing the floor to crumble.

Outside the recording, Boone and Sashi exclaim it was Penn's fault as they fall down a minecart in the recording, traveling through a railway with Rippen and Larry chasing them on a minecart too. The heroes travel through the railway as the stumble upon a split railway, numbered 1 and 2. The heroes go through the 2nd railway as the villains go into the 1st. Rippen tosses Larry towards Penn as Boone points to a vertical loop in the railway. The heroes go through the vertical loop as Larry falls down when upside-down, before getting caught by Rippen's minecart. Both minecarts go side to side as Rippen tries to steal the idol, but his minecart quickly falls down a tunneled railway as the heroes see a hole leading outside the cave at the end of their minecart's railway. The heroes scream, thinking they are gonna fall, but the railway slows down before it reaches the dead end. However, Rippen and Larry appear behind them, about to crash against the heroes' minecart, so they escape from a hole in the wall before the villains and the minecarts fall down the hole.

The heroes slide down a slope, with the idol sliding down a hole beside the slope. Penn and Sashi fall down a path in a temple as they wonder where Boone and the idol is. Boone, in another path, is searching for the two as he enters through a room containing the huge toilet beast, who is dormant. Boone goes to the toilet beast's handle to pull it down, but a mysterious voice tells him not to do so. Boone does it anyways, causing the toilet beast's eyes to open and look at him. Boone escapes, passing beside Penn and Sashi, as the toilet beast chases him. The two scream and escape from him.

Outside the recording, Penn and Sashi exclaim it was each other's fault, with Boone claiming it was his own fault. In the recording, the heroes are escaping from the toilet beast as they see the temple above a cliff, but Penn reminds his friends he doesn't have the idol. The toilet beast is chasing them, so they climb up a vine to the cliff. However, the vine breaks, causing the heroes to fall down. The screen pauses at the moment the recording started at the beginning of the episode.

Phyllis asks the heroes if they know why they are here, with Penn saying that he dropped the idol three times, but Phyllis tells him that is not the reason as she continues the recording. In the recording, Penn sees a shining glow in the toilet beast's mouth, so he falls into it. Sashi and Boone climb down the vine as she tells the toilet beast to bring their friend back, while Penn is pulling the glowing object off his throat, turning out to be the golden idol. The water inside the toilet beast's mouth flushes as Penn gets close to get absorbed by his throat. Outside the toilet beast, he gulps down the water, saddening Sashi and Boone, thinking the toilet beast ate Penn until Penn comes out of its mouth, with the idol in hand. Penn tells the two that the toilet beast was mad because the idol was clogging his throat. Sashi notices the sun setting down, thinking they aren't gonna make it to the temple. Thankfully, the toilet beast lifts her and Boone as he leaps high into the cliff. The heroes thank the toilet beast for helping them reach the cliff as they go to the temple. The temple is about to crumble apart as Penn goes to place the idol to its place, but he is stopped by Boone telling him that he is putting the idol wrong. The two start discussing whether the paper of a toiler paper roll comes from the bottom or from the top. Sashi tells them to hurry up as the temple is close to crumbling down, so Penn does it. A ray of sunlight hits the idol as the doors in the path open, letting a foul odor as mysterious voices thank the heroes.

The screen then cuts to black, with text saying "DIRECTED BY - PHYLLIS". The screen then scrolls up, showing more credits, all listing Phyllis, finishing the recording. Penn asks Phyllis what did they do wrong, which she replies telling them they didn't anything wrong, saying it was the best mission ever, giving the heroes crowns as reward. Phyllis then shows footage of herself as Boone and going to his house, eating the meatloaf his mom prepared. Boone gets mad at Phyllis for eating his meatloaf while Penn tells her that was lots of trouble for just trying to eat meatloaf, with Phyllis telling them the meatloaf was very good, ending the episode.

Trivia[]

  • The episode title and the Temple World in general is an allusion to the adventure film Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
    • One of Rippen's lines in the episode, "Throw me the idol, I'll throw you the whip!", is a direct reference to Alfred Molina's character in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
  • Mrs. Wiseman and Mr. Wiseman, Boone's parents, make their first appearance.
  • The title references the slang term "porcelain god" for a toilet, which comes from the longer slang phrase "praying to the porcelain god," i.e., vomiting into a toilet, derived from the comparison of the sick person bowed over the toilet bowl to the posture of a worshipper bowed before an idol.
  • The Wilhelm Scream can be heard when Rippen and Larry fall down the hole leading outside the cave in their minecart.
