"Stick to the Status Quo" is the fifth song in from the film, High School Musical and on the movie soundtrack. It is performed by minor cast members and an ensemble group of students of East High.
The song is also featured on the Disney+ spin-off series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and its soundtrack.

This song is performed after Ms. Darbus (Alyson Reed) reveals that Troy (Zac Efron) and Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) are requested on the callbacks to the school musical alongside Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) and Ryan (Lucas Grabeel).
After Troy's singing passion is revealed, everyone in the school starts telling their secrets. Zeke (Chris Warren Jr.) loves to bake, Martha (Kaycee Stroh) loves hip-hop and a skater dude (Dutch Whitlock) plays the cello. Throughout the song, each group tells how the rebel should "stick to the status quo".
In the spin-off series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, the song is performed twice. First it can be heard in a rehearsal in the second episode of the first season, "The Read-Through". It is performed by the students cast in the school production of High School Musical.
The second time, the song is performed, in the "Opening Night" episode, by Seb Matthew-Smith (Joe Serafini) in the role of Sharpay Evans alongside the musical ensemble. In this version, there's also a main dance routine performed by Gina Porter (Sofia Wylie) in the role of Taylor McKessie. This second version also appears as part of the song "The Medley, The Mash-Up" on the soundtrack.
