The Spider Shield is a medium shield in Dark Souls.

Availability[]

• Starting equipment for the Bandit class.
• Found alongside the Brigand Set on a corpse in the Valley of Drakes, on the bridge to the New Londo Ruins.
• Found on a corpse in the Depths, in the area above the Giant Rat, accessed by dropping down the chute behind the first Butcher.

Characteristics[]

The Spider Shield has medium deflection and normal parry speed. As the shield blocks 100% of poison and toxic build-up, it is useful for getting through Blighttown more safely, while also saving Purple Moss Clumps and Blooming Purple Moss Clumps in the process.

For general use, the Spider Shield provides slightly different elemental resistances, and similar stability, to more common shields like the Tower Kite Shield and Crest Shield. Beyond Blighttown, poison and toxic build-up becomes less common, which reduces the usefulness of the shield's biggest strength when compared to other shields.
