The Giant Undead Rat is a miniboss in Dark Souls.
Location[]
The Giant Rat can be found in the Depths around halfway through the sewer area. It can also be reached from an alternate path by dropping down a hole in the floor behind the first Butcher.
Description[]
A much larger, more powerful, non-respawning version of the Undead Rat.
Notes[]
- Its attacks cause Poison buildup and once contracted deals 4 damage per second.
- It has a Battle Axe embedded in its left eye.
Strategy[]
The Giant Undead Rat can easily stagger low poise players if they are not careful, but is also susceptible to Bleed and is weaker to Magic, Fire, Lightning and Slash attacks. Also, If the player reaches the Giant Undead Rat via the hidden passageway near the first Butcher, it can be killed from above with ranged or plunging attacks.
It can also be killed from afar using a bow on the bridge leading to the bonfire by shooting arrows through the grate.
