Butterfly Wall Art using Graphic 45 and Quietfire Design

Hello All.

On Sunday I stopped in at our local Winners (TJ Maxx or Marshalls for my American Peeps) and saw a beat up photo frame marked 'AS IS' for $2.  I don't know what it was about the frame but I knew I wanted it.  Sunday night I went into my craft room and created this framed art.  I plan on keeping it in my room for inspiration.
First, I cleaned up the frame a little and applied white Distress Crackle Paint sporadically.  As that was drying I die cut the dress frame (Sizzix' die "Sewing Room") from hardboard and applied Crackle Paint.  Using the same die, I cut the pretty pink gingham paper from Graphic 45's Secret Garden.
Feathers were adhered to the dress form.  Gold antique looking lace was layered on top and a rose antique button was adhered to the center of the lace.  I stamped Quiefire Design's Love Lives Here .  The dress form was mounted on gold butterfly wings (Sizzix' Layered Butterfly set).  The background paper is the first patterned paper I purchased from Graphic 45- Birdsong- and is still my favorite paper from them.

Next, I cut strips from more Graphic 45 Birdsong paper and adhered to the frame edge:
Quietfire Design has a great Art quote and it had to be used on the frame.  It was die cut using Spellbinders' Fancy Tags Two.  Gold embossing powder was applied on the edges:
The framed art was completed:
I am very happy with how my $2 frame inspired this project.  :)
Hope you liked seeing the project.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Cheer grunge Christmas card

Hello Crafters!

How is your weekend thus far?  I hope your weekend has been fun, with perfect Christmas gifts purchased and perhaps some crafty time squeezed in!  My weekend has been good: yesterday I went with my sister-in-law and my cute as a button niece and nephew to see the new Penguins of Madagascar movie.  Afterwards we had lunch and discussed important topics such as the upcoming school Christmas concert, what they wrote to Santa, and how my nephew wished he could wear his Santa hat to kindergarten.   They really are the sweetest little kids.  Hearing them discuss Christmas, seeing the sparkle in their eyes and the grins on their faces makes my heart smile.

Today I would like to share a grunge card I made last week.  The card was started when I purchased the Tim Holtz Holiday Flashcards set:
My friend, Rebecca, was with me when I found it at Carsand Mosher.  I thought it was so cool and she said she would like to see what I could make with it.  Challenge accepted.  ;)
The base was made with corrugated board (yes, I am addicted to it) and it was stained with Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo.  Next, Kaisercraft paper (Twig & Berry) was cut to size and distressed with my Zutter.  White paper was stained using Barn Door then dry embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder.  The embossed paper and the Cheer flash card were distressed using Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo and Antique Linen.  Next was the bell:
The bell was too fun to make.  (And yes, I am also addicted to crackle.)  Card board was die cut using Sizzix' Bigs Die "Christmas Bells, stained, clear crackle applied and then stained again.  Seam binding (thanks, Janice!) was used to make the double bow.  Impression Obsession die "Pine Sprig Cluster" provided the bow bling.
This card was a good excuse to play with ink, crackle and corrugation...but really, who needs an excuse to craft?  :)

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a good Sunday.
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Be Yourself tag

Hello All!

The challenge this fortnight at Craft Hoarders Anonymous is to use a tag on a project.  As always, we have to use an item that is hoarded on the project.  There were four hoarded items on this tag: the silver and pearl button used on the ribbon cluster (I bought it well over 5 years ago), black and white twine (not used in almost 3 years), green burlap (don't even recall when I bought it!)  and my treasured Graphic 45 Secret Garden paper.  I was also able to dig into my scrap bin for some items which is always nice!
The tag base is corrugated cardboard die cut using a Sizzix tag die.  White crackle was applied to the corrugation and Scattered Straw ink was applied along the edges.  The daisy patterned Secret Garden paper was die cut using Spellbinders Postage Stamps.  Quietfire's "Be Yourself" was stamped on vellum (from my scrap bin) and die cut using Spellbinders' Circles.  White card stock (also from my scrap bin...yay!) was die cut using two of Spellbinders Feathers dies.
I finished the tag this morning and in lieu of indoor photos I decided to go "on set" and into my gardens.  While snapping the tag photos I also snapped a few photos of some flowers in bloom in three of my gardens.  If there had not been shade on my other gardens I would have snapped some more.  Please ignore the unruliness- I was unable to poke around in the gardens in over a week.

Here are some of my daisies...
A couple of astilbes...
Fully opened roses...
Some daylillies...
Oh how do I love this time of year!  The world is alive and beautiful!

I won't take up any more of your time.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great weekend.  :)
Hugs,
Kathy Jo

Thinking of you bunny card

Happy Sunday All!

It has been a great crafty weekend here.  On Friday I took a vacation day and headed with some of my crafty friends, Janice and Valerie, and Janice's crafty mom, Ruby, for a day of craft shopping.  It was so much fun and we found some real crafty treasures!  Then, yesterday it was an early meet for Janice and I at Valerie's house where we spent the whole day and late into the evening crafting.  I think I cleaned up my craft mess at 2am.  Quality craft time! But I think I have a crafting hangover today.  :)

One of the cards I made last night is for two challenges: Kraft Journal's Inside and out and the Cardabilities Sketch.  The base was made from Kraft card stock.  I applied Tim Holtz' Picket Fence to the edges.  Simple Stories' Homespun supplied the background paper inside and out of the card.  Kraft card stock was cut using Tim Holtz' Sizzix die Easter Elements and also the flourishes from Spellbinders die set Venetian Motifs.  The flourishes had Picket Fence applied and the bunny had TH crackle paint in Picket Fence applied.  The bunny then had TH Brushed Corduroy ink added along the edges. A doily was die cut from more of the Homespun paper.  "Thinking of You" from JustRite stamp set Enjoy the Day was used on the banner.
The inside contains the Homespun paper and doilies die cut from Couture Creations' Blossom Yarn.  The lovely sentiment is from JustRite's Grateful heart stamp set.
Thanks so much for stopping by!  Thanks to my crafty friends for a fabulous weekend!
Hugs to all!
Kathy Jo
