He automatically assumed it was not published soon enough, but it was. I simply enter in the creation date in the date parameter because the average joe will think that date always means date taken, not published (wish the infoboxes had a "date published" parameter separate from the date of creation parameter. I replied to tell him its published but got no response and its still up for deletion, I afraid some admin will glance at it, not even read my reply, then delete it without realizing the grounds for nomination was incorrect.--PlanespotterA320 (talk) 18:31, 2 May 2018 (UTC)

• I don't like adding publishing info to the description box, because it's supposed to be a visual description of the image. Rumor is that at mediawiki they're going to transclude the wikimedia description to the alt= (screenreader description for the blind) and it would be weird to put the description of "Published in Pravda/Red Star/(Newspaper name) in (year)" if it is not a direct scan of a newspaper clipping (I upload photos that were given to newspapers, but the film negatives tend to be much better quality than any direct newspaper clipping). I'm half considering putting publishing info in the <!-- --> brackets since its only technical information only a few wikipedians will care about, but I think people can now delete stuff without using edit source where such "invisible notes" would be. It kinda feels misleading to put the "(Newspaper name) in (year)" in the date box because sometimes the photos are published a few months after they are taken and then it will just confuse people (ex, sometimes a late 1942 photo is published in early 1943). The images are public domain, but because we don't have a "publishing date" parameter it's not mentioned. Hi there again. I've just found a gazillion photos of Heroes of the Soviet Union from Tass and Sputnik (current owner of the RIAN archive) but most of them are still under copyright and all contain major watermarks. I've tried emailing them - in English - asking if they would be kind enough to release all pre-1991 portraits of Heroes of the Soviet Union under a Wikimedia allowed license, but never got any response. Do you think you could request they do so, since you have much better Russian skills than me? There are a lot of photos I would really like to use in articles and lists but we can't use fair-use images in DYKs, lists, etc. I'm not a Russian citizen but a Western aviation geek so hence they probably just toss my emails in the trash. If you emailed them they would be more likely to respond positively and we would both be able to add lots for photos of HSU articles to provide more historical context. If you want I can send you some sample letters for writing the request, pre-formatted, so you could just translate (if you don't like writing). I've noticed that articles on living American cosmonauts have nice, high-resolution, formal portraits of the subject since the all NASA photos are public domain, but since its not the same for TASS and Sputnik photos we are stuck with low-resolution postage stamps of cosmonaut groups, having to label who's who since we can't even crop postage stamps! It would be very nice if we could use real photos but TASS and Sputnik need to send permission, and I bet they are more likely to listen to you. Вітання! Вікісховище — не російська Вікіпедія. Тут назви категорій іменуються за принципом «ім’я та прізвище», якщо є співпадіння, то уточнюються в дужках фах, або роки життя, якщо і фах співпадає.     • Посмотрел. Спасибо за ссылки. В части "Commons:Category scheme People": насколько я понял эта схема не утверждена на данный момент в качестве правила и подлежит обсуждению. Кроме того, там нет прямого запрета использовать отчества, да и в английской википедии среднее имя человека используется регулярно для однозначной идентификации (см. примеры на викискладе и в англовики. В общем — никаких принципов я не нарушал. Отчество для меня и было первичным идентификатором, а профессия вторичным. К слову, переименованная Вами категория Александра Петровича Максименко несла (и несёт до сих пор) ошибку — смесь раскладок. За дизамбиг — спасибо. --Vasyatka1 (talk) 20:08, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
      • Мало? Прошу. Особлива увага на пункт Wikipedia:Naming conventions (from the English Wikipedia).
      • Це тільки в пострадянському просторі найбільше носяться з по-батькові. Але більшість світу живе не в Радянському Союзі, тому й перевага англійської мови, як також основні правила Вікісховища ґрунтуються на англовікі, а не на рувікі чи укрвікі. --Микола Василечко (talk) 20:17, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
• Щодо і пояснення other persons exist with such name. Де є інші категорії? У світі можуть бути десятки, сотні й тисячі інших осіб з таким ім’ям і прізвищем, але поки на Вікісховищі нема таких, за умовчуванням приймається, що є одна особа. Тому уточнення в дужках не робиться і категорія існує доти, доки не створиться категорія про іншу особу.
