Your VFC installation method is deprecated

[edit]

Hello Cameron11598, we are aware that using the old installation method of VFC (via common.js, which you are using) may not work reliably anymore and can break other scripts as well. A detailed explanation can be found here. Important: To prevent problems please remove the old VFC installation code from your common.js and instead enable the VFC gadget in your preferences. Thanks! --VFC devs (q) 16:23, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Cameron11598. I have an OTRS photo needed to get permission, could you help to check? Thank you. 天馬松風 (talk) 07:29, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@天馬松風: do you have a ticket number? - Cameron11598(talk) 22:02, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Chinese charms from Sportstune.com

[edit]

Concerning the import from Sportstune.com, if you would add all images from the Chinese charms page and its sub-pages to the category Images of Chinese numismatic charms from John Ferguson (Sportstune.com) (which would be a sub-category of Category:Images of Chinese numismatic charms by source) I would greatly appreciate it, mostly because these Chinese (numismatic) charms would need a lot of new categories to be created referenced from Gary Ashkenazy's Primaltrek’s and Edgar J. Mandel's Metal Charms and Amulets of China for their classifications, several of those categories already exist but several new ones would have to be created so I would prefer for them to be in one place so I can sort them out into relevant categories. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 22:25, 15 June 2018 (UTC) :I'm still waiting for some more info from the original OTRS ticket. - Cameron11598(talk) 22:30, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Okay @Donald Trung: This is gonna take me a while to get to, and there are a ton of these images which the file names don't correspond to anything so making heads or tales of these images is gonna take me weeks so please don't expect a quick turn around. - Cameron11598(talk) 22:40, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, but usually information on the files and their corresponding inscriptions can be found on the website, if any names pop up weird I (or someone else) can always request renaming. But I am not expecting this to happen anytime soon as we're all volunteers here so all I can do is be grateful that you're taking your free time to import these images, cheers. Just ping me on my talk page when you're done some weeks from now, that way I can give everything a look.--Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 22:46, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Donald Trung: so after conferring with another OTRS team member (Josve05a) it looks like this task might be too much for the OTRS team, I've presented the file owner with a few options a) he can upload them himself b) he can reach out to a GLAM or Chapter partner C) he can reach out to you with the files and you can upload them and have me tag them with a template I will create or D) allow me to send you the files and have me verify them. - Cameron11598(talk) 03:41, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
We OTRS agents have limited time and resources. OTRS permission agents should verify incoming permissions, store them, and tag images. In some cases, we do a courtesy to upload individual images for the people emailing us, but that is just that, a courtesy. In this case, this would take way to long for the agent. I've instead advised my OTRS colleague not to spend his week trying to decipher the proper names to the files and upload them himself. Instead, I've recommended him to create a custom OTRS permission template which you or the emailee can use to apply to the files you are uploading. This way you or the emailee can upload the images yourself under appropriate names, something which you know where to find, and the agent can process more tickets for all of us. Win-win. --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 03:43, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Josve05a and Cameron11598: I was only surprised that this was offered as usually after OTRS permission is obtained I upload the images myself, for example see Template:East Asian Cash Coins, I can't make these templates myself, if someone would make this template, and then automatically sort all images into Category:Images contributed by John Ferguson (Sportstune.com) I would gladly upload them, I've done this in the past (see: Category:Media contributed by Art Hanoi and Category:Media contributed by East Asian Cash Coins), if there is a template like Template:Sportstune.com I would gladly upload and organise the images, I am already familiar with the naming scheme and categorisation so it won't be too much trouble for me, just ping me on my talk page and I will begin uploading. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 05:48, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
