Keep What can I say, law is law!! But when a building financed by Moroccan government to be used by Muslim public is copyrighted, I see the sense is no more!!!!--Maher27777 (talk) 14:01, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm the photographer of at least one of these photos. In case it makes any difference to the conclusion, I'd like to point out that my photos were taken while on a relatively pricey guided tour of the mosque, where the participants were allowed to take photos of anything we were shown. I asked my guide, an employee at the visitor's bureau of the mosque, about any limitations on the use of photos taken during the tour. I was told there were none. Deleted: I would not expect a museum docent anywhere to understand the subtleties of copyright law. Our FOP policies are well established -- we follow the law of the country where the workis located. I would welcome a change to that (for architecture, at least) to using the USA rules only, but that discussion needs to take place in a much broader context. . Jim . . . . These images show the interior or exterior of a building by fr:Michel Pinseau. In most countries, all paintings, sculpture, architecture, text, and other creative works have copyrights which last for 70 years after the death of the creator. An image of a work that is still under copyright is a derivative work, and infringes on the copyright so that we cannot usually keep the image on Commons. In some countries, there is a special exception to the copyright law which allows such images under certain circumstances. We call that exception freedom of panorama (FOP). Unfortunately there is no applicable FOP exception in Morocco.
There was such indication in the flickr images. If the Moroccan law does not permit, let the imgs be deleted. I have no issues.--Nvvchar (talk) 06:03, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Delete It's too bad, the mosque is beautiful and these are very good images, but the Moroccan law clearly does not provide for images which infringe on the architect's copyright. . Jim . . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 13:45, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Keep This building is even designed by a French, it's been built by Moroccan government, and financed by Moroccan people (see article), to be used by public. It's a public domain building by definition, and if any thing to be deleted..it is this page itself!!!!!--Maher27777 (talk) 11:01, 12 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Delete Unfortunately, Maher27777's line of reasoning is contrary to the law in Morocco and all other limited FOP countries. Even in the USA, a photograph of a sculpture or painting paid for with Federal funds cannot be photographed for Commons if the work was not done by a Federal employee. . Jim . . . . Hi, How can you ask for deletion of a picture (File:Casablanca Mosquee Hassan 2.jpg) with the reason of "Unfree Architectural work" of a public monument ? It s tottaly a non sense. It s in a public place for everybody or in other case, forbid globally all public places pictures of everything because everything have been created by somebody.— Preceding unsigned comment added by RogerCageot (talk • contribs) 2015-01-30T07:48:34 (UTC)
The architect hasn't been dead for 50 years yet. You can't upload pictures of architecture in Morocco unless the architect has been dead for at least 50 years. The building's copyright protection covers both the interior and the exterior of the building. See COM:FOP#Morocco. --Stefan4 (talk) 07:51, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Delete As anyone can see from all of the deletions above, it is very well established that images of the mosque cannot be kept on Commons because they infringe on the architect's copyright. All of the arguments made here have been made before and it is well accepted that they are not valid. . Jim . . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 12:24, 31 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No FOP in Morocco. Guideline states that "for a work permanently located in a public place if it is not the main subject of the image, however, the Mosque (including its interior) seems to be the main subject.
Delete as per nom sadly - It's a great loss to Commons however we (unfortunately) must follow respective countries FOP rules. –Davey2010Talk14:21, 27 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding "Mezquita Hassan II (reflejo en agua difuso)" "Mezquita Hassan II (reflejo en agua)":
I call to your attention that the main focus/subject of the two photos I uploaded with the word "reflejo" (reflection) in their subtitles is not the mosque but the body of water (the ocean). I am aware that there is not FOP in Morocco hence the decision over the shots.
Regarding the file "Niño dibujando mezquita Hassan II" (Kid drawing the Mosque Hassan II"):
The FOP is not even an issue here. On the other hand, if anyone starts to argue a trouble with copyright, it must be said that, first of all, we're talking about a class exercise (that I taught) and not a work ment to be considered art; we can't even consider it a sketch of a work-to-be since, as I just wrote, it was a drawing made by a kid during a class about "things I love from Casablanca", no more than that.
Conclusion:
As I wrote earlier, I'm aware of the lack of FOP in this country, and even if I don't agree with it, I respect it. But sometimes we take part in these efforts made by governments to control every single aspect of its people. If we start to erase pictures of drawings and reflections of buildings, where do we draw the line? Fraguando (talk) 21:56, 29 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Deleted: Deleted most per nomination, with heavy heart. Kept a few where the mosque was not the main subject of the image. Unfortunately the children's drawing must be considered a derivative work. Sebari– aka Srittau (talk) 19:42, 15 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

More stunning and beautiful images .... all going to be binned due to silly laws, As much as I don't want to we must respect FOP loaws even if it is ridiculous. –Davey2010Talk22:02, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nominating all files where the mosque's architecture is the main subject. Per previous deletion requests: no COM:FOP Morocco, so copyrighted until 2070 (architect Michel Pinseau died in 1999).
