Hello,

During my studies at Commons, I came across a large number of inactive bot accounts. I hereby suggest removing their bot-flag like we do it with the sysop or OTRS-flag:

• Regarding Olafbot (the first on the list) - The bot was used to import Signwriting images of Polish Sign Language signs: Category:Polish_SignWriting. The import has been finished, however I planned to import SVG versions of the images as well, which were unavailable at the time. Honestly, I'm not sure if I'm able to find time for that, but I will try. On the other hand, I'm quite sure, I'm not going to apply once again for the bot flag just for the SVG import in case the rights were revoked, because last time it took three months to have the flag granted. I've just proposed the reason, why it may be wiser to keep the flags. On the other hand, if a bot doesn't do anything harmful, what is the point in revoking its flag? • Can someone please deflag and strike out the bots for which the owners have responded that the flag is no longer needed? I have some bots in this list. First step is identifying the owners. I parsed all bot user pages (with a little bot) and extracted the owners if a {{Bot}} template was present (shame on you if it wasn't). I'll go ahead and remove flags for bots where the users have not responded. P.S.: what is the deal with the (invisible) underline tags? I fixed a bug in my userpage parsing, which gets a lot more usernames (almost all of them) and added a quick link to the user rights page for the crats. I know of a bunch of users that are not active anymore on wiki. And I am inclined to remove flags if users do not respond. I'd like to add that for reflagging there should be significantly fewer hoops to jump through. Since the first research on inactive bots (July 2013) I've resumed editing on Wikimedia wikis, inclusing some flood actions not using any bot framework, but still flood actions *. Please keep my bot flag, since in a near future I may work on some GLAM tasks here on my country. If isn't possible to keep my bot flag at this momment no problem, feel free to remove and I will request again when and if starting to work on GLAM projects, but if possible keep, since I'm planning also more flood edits in a near future. • Just noticed this page. Must have restarted again after I requested deflagging my bot. Anyway, objecting to the deflag process for your bot should be enough for the bot to keep the flag, I think, so it should be no problem. Asking to reinstate the bot flag after it has already been deflagged, however, may still need a bit of community discussion to make sure the bot owner is kept up to date on all the relevant policies about bot operations.
