Unreliable source

edit

Fan sites are generally (though not always) not the best sources of citations for encyclopedias. Do you think you can corroborate the details you offer regarding bus equipment/assignments? For example, the bus manufacturer(s) is a good source of data on the buses. Not sure what you'd use on yard assignments - perhaps email or a letter NJ Transit might write to you in response to a query. 17:26, 17 April 2007 (UTC)Raryel

you can categorize your photos

edit

It is done very simply, just pay attention on what I did on the page, with your photo of X51 Flyer Viking, b.n. 997.

  • while photos are categorized, a used can find them much more quickly in commons.
  • How to categorize? The best is "shoot" for "general words" and for existing categories, which match the topic of a photo.

Image deletion warning Image:1232.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file.
In all cases, please do not take the deletion request personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Thank you for your contributions. Your image or other content was recently deleted, or will soon be deleted, in accordance with our process and policies, because it was not, or is not, within our scope. Please review our project scope, but in short, Commons is targeted at media files including photographs, diagrams, animations, music, spoken text and video clips. Wikimedia Commons does not contain text articles like encyclopedia articles, textbooks, news, word definitions and such. Each of these other kinds of content have their own projects: Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wikisource, Wikinews, Wiktionary and Wikiquote.

If the content seems to fit the scope of one of those other projects, please consider contributing it there. If you think that the deletion was in error because the contribution really was in scope, you can appeal it at Commons:Undeletion requests, giving a reason why it fits our scope to help others evaluate the matter. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Hi, I noticed you tagged Image:JosephJRoberts.jpg with {{PD-because}} citing NJ law. The state of New Jersey maintains the copyright, it is not public domain. Also the law only allows verbatim copying and use. This is not sufficiently free. As such, I have nominated the image for deletion. --ChrisRuvolo (t) 18:28, 6 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello AEMoreira042281!

Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.

To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.

You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.

The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!

Thank you. BotMultichillT (talk) 05:35, 10 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

NJT Buses n Russian Article

edit

Dear Adam:

  • I am very glad that you added your photo into a Russian Article about NJ Transit. It was my job to translate it. As I see, someone tried to add your bus photo into an article, using the automated translation. I know the automated tranlator thinks that you mean a "comptuer bus (which is 8 bit 16 bit etc)" rather then a bus on wheels.
  • The question is ( where exactly did you spot NABI 416 in NJ?)
  • Plus is it real to spot M8 Metro North train at Grand Cenral

My email is tramrunner AT gmail.com, or look for Gregory Kats in a facebook. Thanks 70.107.161.233 04:11, 22 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Combined two DART images

edit

I just came up with a combined image of File:DART_Dallas_Nova_RTS_WFD_5616.jpg with File:DART_Arapaho_Station_2008-08-21.jpg, but I haven't uploaded it yet because there's a lot of whitespace on your segment of the image. I'm planning it as a replacement for the existing two in the infobox of Dallas Area Rapid Transit. Would you mind if I uploaded it now, so you can work on it yourself? ----DanTD (talk) 15:28, 3 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well, you did the bus, so I'd certainly credit you for that. The Arapaho Station image was taken by User:Gaberlunzi, so naturally I'd credit that one to him. ----DanTD (talk) 05:59, 14 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Picture Requests

There are a few picture requests that I can ask you to do. This is all NYC Subway/Staten Island Railway related. The reason I am choosing you is because you are an excellent photographer, and you photos have placed a huge interest for me. The following photos I would like you to take are:

  • Lefferts Boulevard shuttle train (the late night train with a blue  )
  • R46 train operating on the  )
  • Deck Roof Hi-V car 3662 at the Shore Line Trolley Museum (the only Deck Roof car left in existence).
  • R42 train operating on the   shuttle (has a brown  )
  • One of the two remaining SIRT ME-1 cars (either car 388 at the Shore Line Trolley Museum or car 366 at the Seashore Trolley Museum, or even both if possible.

That is currently all I can think of right now. If you can do any of these, please let me know on my talk page. I would also like a link to your photos when uploaded so I can further categorize them. Thanks!
