Mutation is a limited-time multiplayer game mode featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. It was added on June 26th, 2024 as part of the Season Four Reloaded update and remained in the game until the launch of Season Five on July 24th, 2024. Mutation returned on September 18th, 2024 as part of the Season Six update.

Overview[]

The mode works as a playlist featuring the Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination and Hardpoint modes. One team is playing as Mutants with unique special abilities while the other team is playing as Humans operators with their main loadout. Each matche plays in two rounds with every player switching teams for the second round.

Mutated Leaper	Charged Leap	Leap at the enemy with a ground breaking impact.
	Snapshot Grenade	Toss a Snapshot Grenade to reveal enemies for your team.
	Mutant Rage	Fast movement, increased melee damage, ability to detect enemies around corners.
Camouflaged Sneaker	Scramble	Leap at the enemy with a lethal shockwave impact.
	EMP Throw	Throw a lethal energy projectile at the enemy, than can also stun and slow.
	Cloak	Become partially invisible for a brief period of time.
Contaminated Sludger	Explode	Explode with a large radius of mutant sludge, does not count as a death.
	Smoke Grenade	Toss a Smoke Grande to shroud fellow mutants from the enemy.
	Acid Blast	Eject a strong acid blast that deals close range damage, and leaves pools of acid that damage and slow the enemy.
Radioactive Beast	Charge	Stampede toward the enemy for an Earth shattering impact.
	Howl	Shellshock nearby enemies with a deafening howl, temporarily buff teammate health and move speed.
	Seismic Recon	Reveal nearby enemies on the minimap for your team.

Several Modifiers are also available for the Mutant side. The Modifiers were earned during the Altered Strain event.
