Second Lieutenant Matthew Weber is a playable protagonist in Call of Duty: WWII. He appears in the mission Battle of the Bulge.
On December 25th, 1944, Weber's squadron of P-47 Thunderbolts were protecting a large number of B-17 Flying Fortresses during a bombing run over western Germany when they received a call for air support from 1st Platoon, 1st Infantry Division. They and the 9th Armored Division had been engaged by Wehrmacht and Waffen SS infantry and armor east of Bastogne, Belgium.
The fighters and bombers came under heavy attack from Luftwaffe Messerschmitt BF109s, but Weber and his squadmates were able repel two waves of fighter assaults and escort the bombers to their target. With the bombing mission complete, the squadron peeled off to assist the infantry with close air support. Weber's squadron destroyed three Panzer IV tanks, saving 1st Platoon from being overrun.
