The Golden Magikarp (Japanese: 金のコイキングを追え! Chase the Golden Magikarp!) was a Daily Battle event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on Magikarp.
During this event, players could obtain Pokémon Eggs that hatched into Magikarp, with which they could form sync pairs. The hatched Magikarp's role could be strike, tech, or support, and Magikarp of any role could hatch as Shiny Pokémon. In addition, like egg events, players could not obtain Eggs from Professor Bellis by completing areas outside of the event, and a limited-time Egg incubator was added to Bellis's Lab for the duration of the event.
While the battle Retrieve the Eggs! could be challenged an unlimited number of times, Spectacular Splash could only be challenged once per day. This battle rewarded players with Golden Magikarp Tickets, which could be redeemed in the shop for items. Event missions could be completed by hatching lots of Eggs and using Splash in battle, rewarding players with Gems and items for raising Egg Pokémon.
First run
The event first ran from May 5 to 16, 2022. It ran alongside the story event A Golden Future and the solo event Pasio Gold Rush.
Second run
The event reran from May 4 to 17, 2023. The amount of Golden Magikarp Tickets earned from Spectacular Splash each day was greater than the first run. Pasio Gold Rush reran alongside it, but A Golden Future did not.
Third run
The event reran again from April 27 to May 10, 2024. Both Pasio Gold Rush and A Golden Future reran alongside it; everything else was the same as the previous run.

(Professor Bellis's lab; the professor looks frustrated, then notices the player and turns to them)
Professor Bellis | What a predicament! Can you help me with something, <player>? |
(The player walks closer)
Professor Bellis | The Magikarp Eggs that I had collected for research have all gone missing! It looks like Hoopa played a prank by swapping them out with the Eggs I give out to Pasio's Trainers! If you find any sync pairs that have Eggs, could you tell them what happened and bring them back to me? I imagine you might end up having to battle those Trainers... but I'll let you keep some of the Magikarp Eggs you retrieve as a reward for helping me out! I know Magikarp isn't a strong Pokémon... but I was going to use those Eggs to study Shiny Pokémon. There's a chance that when they hatch, you might get a golden surprise! Ayúdame, por favor! Sure!: Really? Merci, <player>! For a golden one? Of course!: *chuckle* I understand that feeling well! I can't wait to get a closer look at a golden Magikarp, too! *sigh* I wonder if they're OK... I just hope they haven't already evolved into raging Gyarados... |
Trivia
