Team Rocket airship

The Team Rocket airship is an aircraft used by Team Rocket in the Pokémon Adventures manga. It first appeared in the FireRed & LeafGreen arc.

History

FireRed & LeafGreen arc

The airship debuted in Meet Deoxys, and Deoxys, and Deoxys, and..., where Sird and Carr picked up Orm from Six Island. In Secrets from Sneasel, led by Deoxys's divination powers, Giovanni told the airship to head to Viridian City, where his long-lost son, Silver, was currently located. The airship arrived in Giovanni's hometown in Surprised by Sneasel, and Giovanni sent Sird and Orm to bring Silver to him. They succeeded in Bested by Banette and fled from the site, with Yellow in pursuit.

The airship in its Stadium Mode

While Sird and Orm were retrieving Silver, Red and Mewtwo approached the airship. Noticing them, Giovanni decided to settle things with the one Trainer who had ever managed to defeat him once and for all, and transformed the airship into its Stadium Mode, creating an airborne battlefield. In Can Mewtwo Dish It Out with a Spoon?, Giovanni challenged Red to a one-on-one match, Mewtwo vs. Deoxys, which Red accepted. Due to Deoxys's ability to change its form, it gained the upper hand, dealing severe damage on Mewtwo by piercing its chest with its Attack Forme's sharp tentacles. However, Red managed to steal the airship's remote control from Giovanni, using the force field covering the stadium to protect Mewtwo while it used Recover. Mewtwo subsequently managed to hit Deoxys on its vulnerable core, defeating it, especially as Giovanni realized that the Ruby and the Sapphire, which had been placed in an amplifier at the Rocket Warehouse to grant Deoxys access to its Normal and Speed Formes in Kanto and the Sevii Islands, had been removed by someone, leading to Deoxys losing its access to those Formes and thus limiting its capabilities significantly.

The airship after crashing

In Mewtwo Comes Through, the airship was taken over by Carr, who aimed to crush Giovanni and Silver in order to become the new leader of Team Rocket. During the violent turns he put the ship through, Orm fell off the ship, and Sird cancelled the Stadium Mode by stealing back the remote control. Carr revealed that he had placed his eleven Forretress around the ship, all having been commanded to use Explosion. One Explosion sent Sird flying out of the airship, while Carr escaped before the rest would explode. After making sure that his friends had been safely evacuated in Distant Relation Deoxys, Red and his Pokémon teamed up with Deoxys to locate and defeat the Forretress before they could explode. In Storming the Forretress, Blue, Green, and Silver used their Pokémon to try to keep the ship from crashing into Vermilion City as Red successfully prevented all the Forretress from exploding, personally convincing the last one, hidden in the armory, not to do so. When Red's shirt, which he had used to hold the steering wheel in place while he was stopping the final Forretress, ripped, it seemed the ship was going to crash, only for it to be gently brought down to the ground by Mew.

Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire arc

The airship, fully repaired, reappeared in PS613, where Giovanni was revealed to have brought Red, Green, Amber, and Blaise aboard it after they had been knocked unconcious by Groudon and Kyogre. He told them that he had come to help stop the great meteoroid that was threatening to impact the planet within a few days. In PS614, everyone onboard observed as Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza combined their powers to destroy a big chunk of the meteoroid that was falling before the main body over Route 120, only barely succeeding.
