Petal Dance (Japanese: はなびらのまい Petal Dance) is a damage-dealing Grass-type move introduced in Generation I. Prior to Generation II, it was the signature move of Oddish's evolutionary line.
Effect
Generation I
Petal Dance inflicts damage for 3-4 turns, has a base power of 70, and 20 PP. PP is deducted only on the turn Petal Dance is first called. Once called, even if the move misses, the user will only be able to use Petal Dance, and will not be able to switch out. After Petal Dance is finished, the user becomes confused, due to fatigue.
If the Petal Dance duration is disrupted (such as by full paralysis or hurting itself due to confusion), it will immediately end. The user will only become confused if Petal Dance is fully executed, without its duration being disrupted. Sleep, freeze, binding, and flinching will pause but not disrupt the duration of Petal Dance.
If a change in accuracy or evasion affects Petal Dance's accuracy, the decrease in accuracy will be reapplied on each automatic turn. Its accuracy will return to normal when it is selected again. If Petal Dance misses due to the 99.6% accuracy bug of 100%-accuracy moves when there are no other accuracy or evasion modifiers in effect, or in case said modifiers cancel each other, its accuracy will be unaffected. If Petal Dance misses during the turn it is selected, its secondary effects will not activate.
In Stadium, after the duration of Petal Dance ends, there will be a notice that the user becomes confused.
Generations II and III
The duration of Petal Dance is decreased to 2-3 turns.
In battles with multiple opponents, the user selects itself as the target, but hits an adjacent opponent that is selected at random upon each use of the move.
Petal Dance can be used as the second move of a Pokémon Contest combination, with the user gaining 4 bonus appeal points if Growth was used in the previous turn.
Generation IV
The power of Petal Dance is increased to 90. All other effects are the same.
Generation V onwards
The power of Petal Dance is further increased to 120, and its PP is reduced to 10. It is disrupted if it is not successful due to missing, sleeping, paralysis, freeze, flinching or is blocked by a protection move. If a disruption occurs on what would have been the final, confusion-inducing turn of Petal Dance, the user will still become confused.

Pokémon UNITE
In Pokémon UNITE, Petal Dance is Venusaur's second move. It is obtained by reaching level 7 as Ivysaur and upgrading Razor Leaf into it instead of Solar Beam. The user scatters petals around themself for 5s, increasing movement speed and damaging enemies over time in the radius. This movement speed increase slowly decays during the duration of this move. This move reduces the cooldown of Sludge Bomb or Giga Drain by 30% of the current remaining cooldown, per tick of damage that hit an enemy player (hitting multiples enemies reduces the cooldown more). At level 13, its radius increases.
