This is the Bulbapedia walkthrough for Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.
These pages follow the original Game Boy Advance iteration, not Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. The guide for those games can be found here.
Route 119
The lengthy Route 119 runs north from Route 118 to Fortree City. The area is filled with patches of long grass, which hide Trainer and Pokémon alike. The tropical heat and frequent rainfall make for an ideal setting for the Weather Institute.

The Mimic Circle
The south end of the route holds a large field of long grass. Hidden within are six Trainers who call themselves the Mimic Circle. When a traveler passes by, these Trainers like to make fun by copying the traveler's movements.
Weather Institute
Located on the north end of the route, the Weather Institute is a research facility used to study the weather patterns of the Hoenn region. This data seems to have drawn the attention of Team MagmaR/Team AquaS, as a pair of Grunts has been stationed at the bridge outside.

Inside, you find another pair of Grunts searching the back room. Before taking them on, you can visit the break room to the northwest; the comfy bed can be used to rest your Pokémon, and the PC can be used to organize your party. Defeat the Grunts and climb up the stairs.
2F
On the second floor, you find another pair of Grunts. Battle past them to find that the researchers are being held captive by CourtneyR/ShellyS, the second of the villainous team's Admins. The group is here looking for information on extreme weather conditions, and to steal a Pokémon rumored to have been created by the Institute that can control the weather. She can't allow you to meddle in their plans, and draws you into battle.

The Threat Continues
CourtneyR/ShellyS simply shrugs off her defeat, declaring that the team has other plans to advance before she and her subordinates flee the building. As thanks for their rescue, one of the Scientists rewards you with a Castform, a Pokémon created by the Weather Institute that changes its form based on the current weather conditions.
Meet up with May/Brendan
Leave the Weather Institute and go east to cross the northern bridge. As you go to climb up the nearest stairway, May/Brendan catches up to you. Your friend wants to see how much stronger you've become, and wastes no time challenging you to a battle!

Fly Like a Bird
May/Brendan was worried that you may not have been keeping up with your training, but your victory proves these fears unfounded. As a reward, she/he presents you with HM02 (Fly). This field move allows a Trainer to quickly return to any familiar location—but to use it, you will need to earn the Gym Badge from nearby Fortree City first. The young Trainer suggests flying home to visit Mom in Littleroot Town, before biking northward up the hill.
Fortree City
Located between Routes 119 and 120, Fortree City was built in an old-growth forest with dense plant life. The ancient trees found here are so large that the residents were able to build cozy homes among their branches. The Fortree Gym stands in the heart of the city, and a shop offering Secret Base decorations can be found in the southeast part of town.

Time for a Trade
Visit the northwest treehouse to find a girl who would like to trade Pokémon. She is willing to part with her Skitty in exchange for a Pikachu. Skitty arrives holding a piece of Glitter Mail.
Reveal Your Hidden Power
The north-northwest house belongs to an elderly woman. Speak to her to play her guessing game: she holds a coin in her hand, and asks in which one you believe it to be hidden. Guess correctly three times (Right, Right, Left) to win the game and receive TM10 (Hidden Power). This unique attack changes its type and power based on the Pokémon using it.
An Invisible Barrier
Something invisible blocks the way to the clearing that holds the Fortree Gym. Earning the sixth Badge will need to wait!
Running Errands
Visit the northeast treehouse and speak to the young man inside. As you do, he directs his Wingull to run an errand for him, and the Seagull Pokémon exits the building. Return later to find out if it was successful!
Secret Base shop
The southeast treehouse holds a shop with a variety of Secret Base decorations for sale. Desks can be purchased at the counter to the left, while chairs can be purchased at the counter to the right.
Route 120
Reveal the Unseen
With an invisible force blocking the Fortree Gym, there is no choice but to continue eastward to Route 120. Proceed to the northernmost bridge, where you happen to run into Steven again. He informs you that there is another invisible force here, blocking travel to the bridge's west end. Fortunately, he has a way to solve this mystery, and asks if your Pokémon are ready for battle. When ready, Steven slips on the Devon Scope, a high-tech piece of eyewear that reveals invisible objects. Sure enough, they expose a wild Kecleon standing in front of you, and the startled Pokémon attacks! Catch or defeat the Pokémon to clear the bridge. Pleased with your actions, Steven allows you to keep the device. This allows you to chase the other Kecleon away from the Gym, so head back into town to win your next Badge!

Fortree Gym

Fortree City Pokémon Gym Leader: Winona The bird user taking flight into the world.
|
The Fortree Gym specializes in Flying-type Pokémon. Flying-type moves are super effective against Bug-, Fighting-, and Grass-type Pokémon, while Flying-type Pokémon are weak to Electric-, Ice-, and Rock-type moves.
The Gym features a series of turnstiles. These barriers must be rotated and approached from alternate directions in order to progress. Pass through the first turnstile and battle Bird Keeper Jared. Push the second turnstile counter-clockwise to battle Picnicker Kylee, then clockwise to its starting position. In the east-central area, push the L-shaped turnstile counter-clockwise. Rotate the T-shaped one counter-clockwise. Loop around and move the L-shaped turnstile two places clockwise. Loop back around and move the T-shaped one clockwise. Go west to battle Camper Terrell, then continue north. In the northeast area, move the southern turnstile clockwise. Turn the eastern one counter-clockwise, then back to its starting position. Battle Bird Keeper Will. Move the western one clockwise, the southern one counter-clockwise, and the eastern one counter-clockwise. Pass by Bird Keeper Will a second time and go west to reach the Gym Leader.
Winona leads with her Swellow, a speedy Normal/Flying Pokémon. Avoid inflicting status ailments, as its Guts Ability boosts its physical Attack by 50% under such conditions. Her Pelipper is more defensive, and can hinder the its target with status moves. As a Water/Flying Pokémon, it is most vulnerable to Electric attacks. Like most Steel-type Pokémon, Skarmory has high physical Defense, and its Steel Wing attack can boost it further. It takes serious damage from Fire- and Electric-type attacks, which fortunately target its weaker Special Defense instead. Finally, her Altaria is naturally a more defensive Pokémon, but Dragon Dance increases both its Attack and Speed by one stage each. It sustains massive damage from Ice attacks, but Rock- and Dragon-type moves are effective, as well. Avoid using a Rock-type Pokémon against it, as Altaria can fight back with Earthquake!
