The siege of Longtable occurred during the Dance of the Dragons.
Siege
After the Battle on the Honeywine, Lord Ormund Hightower and Prince Daeron Targaryen forced the Oakhearts, Rowans, and the lords of the Shield Islands to submit to King Aegon II Targaryen. While Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen took King's Landing, Ormund marched on Longtable, seat of House Merryweather.[1]
Ormund's siege of Longtable forced numerous refugees to flee before his host to Bitterbridge. Ser Rickard Thorne tried to bring Prince Maelor Targaryen and his dragon egg to the safety of Ormund's camp outside Longtable, but the pair were killed at Bitterbridge. Lady Caswell sent Maelor's dragon egg to Ormund.[1]
Lady Merryweather eventually yielded Longtable to Ormund, who claimed the castle's wealth and food but did no harm to the Merryweathers. Lord Hightower then marched on Bitterbridge and Tumbleton.[1]
